Meteobridge web interface fails to load **solved**

Post by kobuki »

I have an MR3020 that had OpenWrt BB 14.07 installed. I wanted to repurpose it as a Meteobridge device for my Meteostick, but after flashing the proper FW under LuCI, I cannot access the MB web interface. The device was set up as a wireless client, and after installing the MB firmware, it has retained this mode and all settings I configured previously. It looks like the MB firmware is a sysupgrade type firmware.

Now, when I try to open http://mb-ip-address/, it redirects to http://mb-ip-address/cgi-bin/meteobridge.cgi but the browser just displays "No such file or directory" there. Logging in to the device as root, I can see that the /home directory is completely missing. So obviously something went offtrack with the firmware installation. I can access the LuCI interface however, at http://mb-ip-address/cgi-bin/luci.

Could you help with this installation?

Looks like it doesn't reach out successfully to the Internet, from where it loads the missing pieces.
Does the LED remain in fast blink mode?

This illustration might help to understand boot process:

It boots fine. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to reach the OpenWRT admin either. But I have strict policies in my firewall (not on the MR3020 but on my gateway router) and probably that's the problem. So I'll need to relax the rules a bit. Do I just reastart the router and it gets the necessary files automatically or it's better to reinstall the MB firmware?

As the unit just does have 4 MB flash, not all the modules needed for Meteobridge do fit into that.
Therefore, Meteobridge loads most of the application stack during boot into RAM disk. This
also allows for very easy application updates, by just rebooting.

Alright, thanks for the explanation, I'll check tomorrow.

I'd like to note though that I haven't yet confirmed that it's the solution (even if it most probably is)...

I am really sure. If it is not the case, I will remove the **solved** mark again. :D
