Rain Total for Year Incorrect **disputed**
Version 2.6 rain total for the year is 0.08 on one Davis Vantage Pro 2 station of mine over TCP/IP and 0.00 on another console over USB serial. Both consoles are reporting 38.61 inches for the year via the display. Weather Display to each of the consoles reports the correct rain amount. Meteobridge system is a TP-LINK TL-MR3020. Frankly none of the rain values are correct.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Here is screen shot of Live Data taken 1/1/2016. On 12/31/2016 there was no rainfall and should be zero but yet it shows 2.0mm 0.08 in. which is not correct.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Meteobridge does not read out cumulated rain data from the console, but you can easily set year/month values on historical data section of meteobridge. According to live false readings, your screen shot gives zero information. If you really have evidence please post supporting material.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Attached are screen shots of Meteobridge and Weather Display taken today after .03" of rainfall. The console and Weather Display both match each other however Meteobridge is not correct as indicated in the attached picture for it as well. Rain rate looks way off in addition to total year rain for 2016 is not right either. My rain gauge size is .01 inches. Also while I did not attach an image I also ran meteohub to the same station and it matched the Weather Display system. What additional "evidence" do you need?
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
What rain collector size does Meteobridge report in messages section of "system tab"?
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
.01 and I also attached a screen shot of the messages area of the system tab.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Meteohub and Meteobridge use the same code for this. I just checked and can't see anything wrong there.
That yearly values need to be adjusted manually within Meteobridge is obvious, as it does not make use
of data stored in the console. It accumulates for itself.
What puzzles me is that you say Meteobridge is doing wrong rain counting math during the day.
Could you please write down daily rain fall on console and Meteobridge and pour a little
water into the funnel and look if values increment the same or if there really is an
incremental gap?

Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Will do! Also tomorrow and Saturday I am expecting rainfall on both of those days so should be able to capture some good samples.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
So today different results. Daily rain totals are correct however the rain total for the year is still wrong. It should be noted with original posting of observations it was within 24 hours of a fresh meteobridge imagine firmware install to MR3020. See enclosed screens from Weather Display, console itself and Meteobridge.

Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Prior post was meteobridge before rain test and this one is after. Also included Weather Display before and after.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Ok, so recording in general is fine. What you have to do is to adapt yearly/monthly data manually once. From then on it will be increased automatically when new rain coming in. Meteobridge does not read yearly accumulations from the Davis console. The wiki explains how to update values for month/year manually. Done once you should be fine.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
So I made manual adjustments to Rain Year and we had .03 inches of rain yesterday and it showed all numbers but total rain correctly. You can see from prior image posts that the number was either zero or a small number now its 5.83". Also the rain rate is way out of wack 57.60/h. Would probably need an ark if that were true. I think all that rain logic at least with a Davis Vantage Pro2 under a new fresh installation on an TP-Link ML3020 needs some serious review. I noticed in the version 2.6 change log rain logic was touched!
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Forgot to mention but I would look for uninitialized variables, etc. that could cause this with a fresh installation.
Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Please get your station known a bit better. Extreme high rain rates are normal for Davis Vantage and reason is how they measure (time between two bucket ticks). Pour a glass of water into the funnel and look at the Vantage display while doing so and you will see spikes like this. Please start understanding that rain rate (although measured in mm/h) is not the rainfall of an hour. Please start some reading here: http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8467
The other thing around the total rain of the year remains unclear from your lines. Do you really want to tell me that you cannot change the value in the web interface? Or do you want to tell me that after you changed it to the correct value this number (and only this one) spikes up again?

Re: Rain Total for Year Incorrect
Yes, we take care of initialization of variables and etc (whatever etc is)...dgunnell wrote:Forgot to mention but I would look for uninitialized variables, etc. that could cause this with a fresh installation.
