My system has been up for about a year, and I've had very few problems with it in that time. Recently, however, I've been getting quite a few emails from WeatherUnderground telling me that my weather station has stopped reporting. Then, a couple of hours later, or half a day later, I'll get a followup email that all is well. Without my having done anything, of course.
During one of these episodes, I did look at my system (which to be frank, I don't often do) by connecting to it via web browser, and I started looking at logs & such, and nothing jumped out at me to say "Ah! I see the problem now!" Obviously, the system was responsive to me at the time, even though WU was claiming it wasn't. I had no general internet connectivity issues at the time, etc.
So I have a couple of questions:
1. Is anyone here aware of problems at WU of late? Is this happening to lots of people?
2. What should I be looking for to either understand the problem, or confirm that it is not at my end?
Recent episode: on 31 Jan I received an email that said my station was offline for 2 hours already. Then at 1:40 p.m. another message saying all was well. Here's what was in the alarm log from the same day:
2016.01.31 11:44:08 weatherpi: sensorfail: Sensor "th0 " failed
2016.01.31 12:02:18 weatherpi: weathernet: No data upload to weather networks as sensor selected on weather network page for outdoor temp, outdoor humidity or outdoor dewpoint is not providing recent data.:
2016.01.31 18:02:14 weatherpi: weathernet: weather underground: no response from weather underground
So from the log, I might have expected an outage starting around 11:44 a.m. and lasting I don't know how long. Given the 2 hour time period they will accept with no update, I might have expected to get an email at 1:44 stating I'd been offline for 2 hours. Instead, that's when I get the "All's Well!" email. And the log suggests that as of 12:02, it's not going to even try uploading data. But was that a one-time event, or was it not updating until the next message logged 6 hours later?
WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?

Re: WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?
Looks like primary outdoor sensor data is missing and without that no WU packets are sent.
Which type of station do you have?
Which type of station do you have?
Re: WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?
Thanks for answering! The station is an Acurite 1025/1035/1525. It has been pretty stable for the year. And I'm not sure I understand how the logs work in meteohub. Does the lack of messages mean that things returned to normal, or does it mean that nothing had changed? Here are the alarm log entries from today:
2016.02.03 17:44:05 weatherpi: sensorfail: Sensor "th0 " failed
2016.02.03 18:02:14 weatherpi: weathernet: No data upload to weather networks as sensor selected on weather network page for outdoor temp, outdoor humidity or outdoor dewpoint is not providing recent data.:
2016.02.03 18:59:11 weatherpi: weathernet: weather underground rapid fire: no response from weather underground
2016.02.03 21:02:10 weatherpi: weathernet: No data upload to weather networks as sensor selected on weather network page for outdoor temp, outdoor humidity or outdoor dewpoint is not providing recent data.:
The graphs on WU appear to show a gap from 16:28 to 18:12

Re: WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?
So it does seem that my "th0" sensor is not always providing data. In the Acurite, the outdoor unit is basically an all-in-one, so it surprises me that what must be the simplest sensor isn't doing its job? The wind seems to be OK. I just today replaced the batteries in the unit, but I still see times when the temperature sensor isn't sending data. Is it possible that it only sends it if it changes? Anyone know this station well?
Re: WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?
So after replacing the batteries, I still had episodes of data dropouts for a few days. But it has been stable now for weeks, with no complaints from WU.
