WeatherUnderground failures -- where does the fault lie?

My system has been up for about a year, and I've had very few problems with it in that time. Recently, however, I've been getting quite a few emails from WeatherUnderground telling me that my weather station has stopped reporting. Then, a couple of hours later, or half a day later, I'll get a followup email that all is well. Without my having done anything, of course.
During one of these episodes, I did look at my system (which to be frank, I don't often do) by connecting to it via web browser, and I started looking at logs & such, and nothing jumped out at me to say "Ah! I see the problem now!" Obviously, the system was responsive to me at the time, even though WU was claiming it wasn't. I had no general internet connectivity issues at the time, etc.
So I have a couple of questions:
1. Is anyone here aware of problems at WU of late? Is this happening to lots of people?
2. What should I be looking for to either understand the problem, or confirm that it is not at my end?
Recent episode: on 31 Jan I received an email that said my station was offline for 2 hours already. Then at 1:40 p.m. another message saying all was well. Here's what was in the alarm log from the same day:
2016.01.31 11:44:08 weatherpi: sensorfail: Sensor "th0 " failed
2016.01.31 12:02:18 weatherpi: weathernet: No data upload to weather networks as sensor selected on weather network page for outdoor temp, outdoor humidity or outdoor dewpoint is not providing recent data.:
2016.01.31 18:02:14 weatherpi: weathernet: weather underground: no response from weather underground
So from the log, I might have expected an outage starting around 11:44 a.m. and lasting I don't know how long. Given the 2 hour time period they will accept with no update, I might have expected to get an email at 1:44 stating I'd been offline for 2 hours. Instead, that's when I get the "All's Well!" email. And the log suggests that as of 12:02, it's not going to even try uploading data. But was that a one-time event, or was it not updating until the next message logged 6 hours later?
