MB Pro - Data export: bug or reception issue? **solved**

Post by chrysnic »

Hi all,

My MB Pro is set to automatically export the previous day's data at the minute granularity. The MB Pro is using the internal RF receiver to receive data directly (wirelessly) from the Davis ISS station. The MB Pro is placed in a location with excellent signal reception and there are no sources of RF interference close by.

The exported data file seems to be perfectly OK, but there are SEVERAL output lines (at different times spread throughout the day) that are missing the last value of the line, i.e., the "rainfall[mm]" value.

As an example, I am copy-pasting the output data for a short time period from yesterday (note the 4th line):

2016-02-15,00:06,14.3,90,12.7,1022.4,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:07,14.3,90,12.7,1022.4,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:08,14.3,90,12.7,1022.3,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:09,14.3,90,12.7,1022.4,0.0,0.0,113,
2016-02-15,00:10,14.3,90,12.7,1022.4,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:11,14.3,91,12.8,1022.4,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:12,14.3,91,12.9,1022.5,0.0,0.0,113,0.0
2016-02-15,00:13,14.2,90,12.6,1022.5,0.0,0.0,113,0.0

I understand that this could simply be an issue with the weather station itself (or a reception issue). But, just to make sure, I am writing this message, in case this is a bug (so as to allow the developers to look into it).

BTW, there is also a single entry at 15:23, which has missed several data values (not just the last one). However, there is only one such "problematic" entry in the entire day:

2016-02-15,15:21,23.2,55,13.7,1025.6,0.8,2.8,90,0.0
2016-02-15,15:22,23.2,55,13.7,1025.6,1.4,3.3,113,0.0
2016-02-15,15:23,,,,1025.6,1.8,1.4,113,
2016-02-15,15:24,23.1,55,13.6,1025.5,1.1,0.0,90,0.0
2016-02-15,15:25,23.1,56,13.8,1025.6,0.0,0.0,90,0.0

Once again, if this is simply a reception issue (and not a bug), I apologize for this message.

Thanks for the help.

The average revolves around -72 db, with the vast majority of values not dropping below -78 db.

Thanks.

Ok, yeah, that should be good enough. Even if in a really noisy area that might result in a noise floor in the upper 80s, that should be good enough for this type of signal.
