MB Pro failing to boot

Post by Mattk »

Have had an MB Pro rebooting since last night, still blinking this morning, repowered and no change. This instance coincides with release of version 2.9, is there a server issue or do we have a device issue?

Edit1: Appears to be stuck here, now appears to be just this one Mb Pro so not the server.
Name: connect.meteobridge.com
Address 1: 2607:5300:100::38
Address 2: 198.50.144.56 tau.meteobridge.com

Edit2: Tried a factory reset, not sure if it was supposed to reboot by itself as it continued to blink for quite some time after the bar run out. It has now picked up a DHCP IP (was static) but gets no further through the landing page than before.

What I did notice before I did reboot it last night and the reason why I did reboot it was all data was blank.

Unfortunately, some of the first batch MB PROs tend to have trouble over time with
the installed USB storage. This can also block the unit from booting correctly, because
the boot process identifies that a valid file system is missing and tries to format the internal
USB media. This can lead to an endless loop when the storage throws errors.

Therefore, it can make a change of the internal USB storage necessary. Please contact
via email "info(at)meteobridge.com" to get things nailed down.

It looks like a failed internal USB storage can block the MB PRO from booting.
This is because the scripts trying to setup the USB storage can run into a stall situation.
Newly deployed startup code should handle that better.

To get your MB PRO booting again, please put the three files of the attached archive onto
a FAT32 formatted USB stick and boot MB PRO with this stick inserted in the front USB connector.
The files need to be extracted from the zip file and have to be placed on the
root level of the stick, not in any folder.

When it keeps stalling for more than 5 minutes, please browse to the MB PRO IP
and post the lower parts of the black screen log, which now also shows a system
log and a list of processes running. Both will be of good help to understand where
exactly the process stalled.

Several logs have been returned via email

Following those instructions I observed the following

After a brief time following power up the unit's display showed it was

Rebooting
Format Storage
Format FAILED!
Display went blank, Lan LED was flashing, System LED was solid
Browsed the MBP IP and dropped straight into the Lic Tab to be accepted
Was able to setup the Pro as per normal however upon rebooting and every subsequent reboot following went into Format Storage following by Format FAILED!

There is nothing in the \data folder, can copy the normal 3 folders into the \data area but upon reboot is blank. Even copying the normal 3 folders the Services select/Template type option shows nothing is available.

Even though it does not stall now during reboot, was able to capture the black screen details/logs during several reboots.

Edit: Another thing I have now noticed several times throughout today is the outside data (Now Column) shows Rubbish bins and appears a little erratic, time is good. There is another MBPro red sitting right beside this suspect one, talking to the same ISS and it is not missing a beat.
