Contact Closure Based On Evapotranspiration

Post by digitalpoint »

We have a few commercial irrigation controllers that will automatically adjust watering based on evapotranspiration. To date, we haven't been using the function, but we are looking to add a weather station so we can do that, and I just want to make sure I'm on the right track with the the Meteobridge PRO as a possible solution...

Let's say we get a Davis Instruments 6163 setup (which has support for evapotranspiration). From what I gather, we would need the Vantage Pro2 console since the Meteobridge isn't going to do the evapotranspiration calculations for us, but it can gather the evapotranspiration calculations from the console.

Then if we had a Meteobridge PRO with a Pandatron USB switch, we could set up an incremental alarm that would trigger a contact closure every 0.01 inches of evapotranspiration based on "sol0evo-dmax=in.2".

So my questions are this...

1. Am I on the right track here?

2. Would the incremental alarm fire *every* 0.01 inches (which is what we need) or just fire once if it's above the last value?

3. Is there a way to reset the incremental alarm automatically every day? If not, are the incremental alarms triggered often enough that we could just set the "Clear" to 0?

Basically my primary need is that a contact closure happens on our irrigation controller every 0.01 inches of evapotranspiration... everything else is just a bonus. Is this something that Meteobridge PRO can do?

And if so, when are they going to be available in the US again? :)
