Rain not being recorded from Davis Vantagevue **solved**

Post by jstevensr »

It is raining cats and dogs as show on my Davis Vantage VUE console, but my airbridge (meteohub) displays "0.00in/hr"
I believe that the issue is with the Meteostick firmware and with with the airbridge RF sensitivity with respect to recording rain correctly.
I have tried many different settings from -60db to -105db (trying normal, wide and narrow) and no rain is recorded.

Also, on boot, the logger is showing a "unknown command" each time it starts.
As you can see blow, if the RF Sens. is too high or low, you can see that the meteostick reboots because there is no RF signal.
"restart meteostick (302 secs no valid rf signal)

Is anyone else having this problem?

Don't go more sensitive than -90db, -105db will hardly work.
Are all other sensors coming in fine? Is rain data completely missing?

BTW, please update your Meteostick firmware, which is rather outdated.

Hello admin,

Yes, ALL other sensors are coming in with out issue.

Per your suggestion, I have updated the Meteostick firmware from version "Meteostick Version 2.1 b3" to version "Meteostick Version 2.4". I have set the "RF Sens." (rx threshold) back to "-75db") where it was before I started having this issue.

The "Unknown command" error is gone, so that is good. I am expecting rain locally tonight, so we are ready to see if the Meteostick firmware update fixes my issue. I'll let you know.

Thank you for your assistance.

I can confirm that that my problem has been fixed and rain is now being recorded correctly. It looks like the Meteostick firmware update was the solution. -Steve :D
