Can't connect to meteobridge

Post by Harlen »

This is a new installation and it was working fine but now I can't connect to the meteobridge data pages. I enter my IP address and the computer just hangs for several minutes then gives a 'not found' error. The unit is still communicating to Weather Underground and Ambient Weather and all the lights are correct.

Maybe it got a new ip? Try looking in the DHCP-table in your router.

Apparently, it did get a new IP. I redid the setup and it is working fine. Does this happen often?
Thanks!

With DHCP it could as the router is controlling the IP allocation

Any way to prevent this as I had to go through the initial setup to fix it?
Thanks!

Yes for sure, you could use a static IP but in doing so you would need to understand your router settings and just be aware if ever you changed your router then you would need to set the MB back to DHCP before changing over and re-config the IP

If you know your way around your router then there should be no need to go through the initial setup to fix this. Log in to your router and there should be a DHCP page somewhere that should list the DHCP devices and allocated IP address, typically the DHCP lease time will trigger a new IP address but can depend on your network and particular router.

I take it this is a MB and not a Pro?

If a straight MB then you can read the IP address using the Status/Reset Light

Got it, thanks. and it is an MB.

What do you mean by "lease time" in reference to the DHCP?
Thanks!

Most routers under the DHCP settings will have a "Lease Time" which will drop and/or force acquiring a new LAN IP after an elapsed time settings. This just makes sure that DHCP assigned IP's get released after devices are disconnected from the network as ine due course nothing would be able to connect to the router as there would be no free IP's in the DHCP assigned block.
