You can get the red cross when running/flicking between tabs multiple times in between the 10 minute upload interval, essentially when accessing the tab it tries to do an upload irrespective of the 10 minute interval and then decides no more attempts are possible within the period.
Let it sit for a while (> 10 minutes) then check the output again, if unchanged then it's a different problem.

I just started feeding Weathercloud 28-Nov-2017. Boris had loaded a beta version of 3.4 on 27-Nov-2017 Ref this problem I was seeing.
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=12470
29-Nov-2017 I had green check marks for Weathercloud ID and Key fields. After that I have no screenshots of the Weather Network page
til after I updated to 3.5 on 08-Jan-2018. Then I started seeing the Red Cross for the ID and Key fields. Another bit of info I am feeding
two more sites now for a total of 5.
Boris if you still have the beta file you uploaded to my unit back in November and want to see if it makes any difference just give me
a heads up. The password is still the same.
Also if I understand correctly when the Weather Network tab is selected does the unit test the connections to each of the weather
networks that have been setup?
Mark

As Mattk explained, each time you go to "weather network" page the credentials you specified for all the weather networks are tested by sending a dummy request to each of the networks. Some networks don't differentiate if it is a request with true data or just one testing the credentials. As a result a network that limits uploads to every X minutes will report a "too many uploads" error when you visit the weather network page multiple times within the X minutes.
So don't rely completely on the green or red marks on the weather network page, take it more as indicators if your credentials are right. They might be right, although the red cross is shown.
It would be great if all networks have a function to verify the credentials only, but just very few are thoughtful enough to understand that this is a good feature that improves quality of feeding programs and helps users to drill down to root causes on error situations.

WeatherCloud has a problem or I do. I have 8 hours of this.
2018-01-22 23:09:37 Error: Read error (Connection timed out) in headers. (no more tries)

2018-01-22 15:29:52 Error: Read error (Connection timed out) in headers. (no more tries)
But it looks as if my info is going to the site. The other sites I have setup seem to be working fine.

Here is the reply left on the blog at Weathercloud.
"Hi Mark,

In recent weeks, our service has experienced a significant growth in the number of users and devices and our team is already working to scale the server accordingly in order to restore good performance. We will keep you informed about progress shortly. Sorry for any inconvenience."
