TP-3020 stuck on landing page

Post by Elena_La_Loca »

Hello, and I'm NEW to this forum.

My late husband bought a TL-mr3020 for AmbientWeather/WeatherUnderground (has both logos on it, so I assume it's flashed for all that) a few short years ago, and had never set it up as we moved a lot. I am finally in a stable location and I am setting up the weather station again. I got the weather station (AmbientWeather WS2090) set up and the console working just fine, and it's recording the data just fine.

Now ... it's time for hooking up the TL-mr3020

I hooked it up via Ethernet and was able to get into the device via IP and was able to set my wireless settings, hit save and reboot.

Here's where things BEGAN to go awry, bear with me as I want to chronologically describe the following:

First, it again took me back to the 'accept terms' page. I checked the box and hit save and I got an error stating "could not save to file .config (or something like that) - device storage full

after a few mins, it accepted it. I again went back to the WLAN settings and re-entered the info as it looked like it wasn't in properly.

SAVE AND REBOOT

NOW here's the HUGE problem.... I am now stuck (for a good hour now) on the Black Landing Page - Meteobridge Landing Page (FW 1.1) .... and I cannot get any further

I have:
- Disconnected the power and restarted it all again, via Ethernet or Wifi ... black page
- I am able to enter the OpenWrt and check settings there.. so I am COMMUNICATING with the device... but with just the IP -> Black Landing Page.

I have done some investigating which took me to this forum, and found a thread that resembled my issue - viewtopic.php?f=56&t=12698&p=24666&hilit=landing#p24666
and it was talking about the meteobridge server being down.
Could THIS be the issue for me???? I would find this very co-incidental if that was the case LOL

Please assist... I don't need these extra grey hairs

EDIT ---- I have pinged tau.meteobridge.com and I get results... all data packets returned ... hmmmmm

Have you actually confirmed the unit has an internet connection?

If it's DHCP you may be able to see it connected through your router, if you know the IP you could try pinging the IP from a command prompt, you could connect another IP device (laptop/desktop etc) in place of the MB and check operation, you could change the MB to a cable that is working, maybe in place of your PC etc, or try a different cable

I am a bit confused with what you are trying to say. the IP of the device is 192.168.15.8 , and I can ping that no problem from my laptop that's connected to my WIFI network.
When you say connect another device (like my laptop) in place of the MB and check operation... I don't know what you mean with 'check operation' .. how do I go about doing that?

the thing is, though... that I can contact the device through WIFI already.... so it's not a connectivity issue with the device itself as you can see from the initial post... I could get to the black landing page via ethernet and ALSO VIA WIFI...

If you can see from my second post, it's the network details that are at the bottom of the black landing page... and it seems as if it is able to send packets (though some are dropped... but not ALL)

I have gone to the cloud simulator and put in some simple settings (and leaving the network as just LAN for now) to be sure that I can start from scratch again with the device... downloaded the config file and had the device reboot (by unplugging and plugging back in) with the usb stick that had the config file on it.

It is up with solid green LED's... and I still get the Black Landing Page...

I KNOW IT IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET... and here's how I know. I have gone into the OpenWrt of the device
- into diagnostics
- PINGED openwrt.org .... and ALL PACKETS SENT AND RECEIVED (as you can see from the following)

Code: Select all

PING openwrt.org (139.59.209.225): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 139.59.209.225: seq=0 ttl=45 time=204.575 ms
64 bytes from 139.59.209.225: seq=1 ttl=45 time=204.692 ms
64 bytes from 139.59.209.225: seq=2 ttl=45 time=204.553 ms
64 bytes from 139.59.209.225: seq=3 ttl=45 time=204.356 ms
64 bytes from 139.59.209.225: seq=4 ttl=45 time=204.146 ms

--- openwrt.org ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 204.146/204.464/204.692 ms
So.... it DOES COMMUNICATE over the internet. But I can NEVER GET PAST THIS DAMN BLACK LANDING PAGE...

(sorry for the caps, but frustration is beginning to take me over... haha)

Thnx and PLEASE, any additional help will be appreciated.

EDIT -------- I have performed a device reboot via OpenWrt, and can see the LAN stats after login

Code: Select all

Type: dhcp
Address: 192.168.15.8
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.15.1
DNS 1: 148.240.118.40
DNS 2: 189.209.127.244
Connected: 0h 1m 8s
I am still able to ping via network/diagnostics ... and even do a traceroute. So.... it's communicating.
Why am I still getting the black page when I enter the IP via my browser (IP is 192.168.15.8 )
oh the humanity :x :x :x

If you can get back into the bridge turn the WiFi off and simply work on cable until you sort things out. Forget WiFi for now. Would this be a WeatherBridge (as such) as sold by Ambient?

The Black landing page is typically when the unit is unable to access the internet, you may be able to connect and see it through your network but without an internet connection then typically blank page.

I have the whole wifi settings removed via OpenWrt. I am only working on LAN.
As I had said, I can ping and do a traceroute THROUGH the device... so the device is CONNECTED to the internet.

yes... sold by Ambient

Can confirm it is not the firmware server as I did 4 updates this morning.

Maybe try a full default reset and start from scratch? Something is screwed up somewhere.

I would love to try to do that... but I cannot figure out how to perform such an operation.

There are zero buttons to press on the device. just a sliding switch that says 3g/4g - wisp - ap (I hope I got that right as it's really hard to read light grey on white.

Please advise

You are running FW version 1.1 as i understand your first post correctly.
Maybe this procedure will help: http://meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/P ... g_Hardware
At the bottom of that long page:
Flash Again
When you need to flash a new Meteobridge firmware to your TL-MR3020, TL-MR3040, TL-WR703N or DIR-505, you can do that by calling the URL "http://ip-of-your-meteobridge/cgi-bin/fwupdate.cgi". This will shutdown some running services and will bring you to the openwrt SW stack below Meteobridge application software stack. If your device cannot load Meteobridge application stack from the Internet for some reason, you can also directly access openwrt web interface by browsing to "http://ip-of-your-meteobridge-device/cgi-bin/luci". Login with your Meteobridge password and go to "System" tab. Select sub tab "Backup / Flash Firmware" and use offered "Flash new firmware" section. Unmark "keep settings" option and start flashing. Keep device connected to power, it will restart automatically.
