data not downloading through meteobridge

Post by katlathrop »

Since May 13, data has not been downloading through the data logger. Knowing this could be an all day project (which it was), I waited until I had time to try to figure out what was wrong. I thought maybe the IP address changed, as that has been a problem in the past. I pulled up the magicip, and the IP address did not change. I tried changing some other settings, but literally nothing has changed. I tried disconnecting the data logger, removing the batteries and reconnecting. I have the USB hub between the data logger and meteobridge. I restored the meteobridge back to factory default and went through each screen on meteobridge.cgi..... not sure what else can be done? Suggestions please!

Is live data not showing any sensor info?
Did you configure your station on "weather station" tab?
Did you check if logger is seated fine in the console?
What messages does "system" tab give?

As you see there are tons of options to find out why it is not working...

Live data was not showing sensor info. Weather station was configured on weather station tab. It did have a warning about USB 2.0, but I have the USB 2.0 connected. I disconnected and reconnected the logger from the console. I don't think there were any messages on the systems tab.... I unplugged the meteobridge the other day, and now, when I try to plug the meteobridge into the router, my internet goes down completely, so I can't check to see if there are any other errors. What am I doing wrong?? Why would it make my internet go down completely?

When you have your Meteobridge configured for WLAN operation AND you connect it in addition with an Ethernet cable to your router/switch AND when you also have the bridge feature enabled, then you have defined a loop in your network and drive your network crazy. But doing so is like putting your fingers into the main plug... ;-)

when you have the Meteobridge working again in your network, please give me remote access. Your descriptions don't point me to anything, I will need to look myself.

Here is what the system tab messages is showing now that I have rebooted:

wnetd (22.06.2018 13:24:15): process started.
system (22.06.2018 18:24:15): start of logging process initiated.
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:15): no historical data loaded.
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:15): data logger (version 5.0x, build 12200) started.
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:16): can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:19): waiting for sensors (wind0, rain0, th0, thb0) to provide data.
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:19): services paused.
logger (22.06.2018 13:24:46): can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory
logger (22.06.2018 13:25:46): message above repeats 2 times.
logger (22.06.2018 13:26:16): give up waiting for sensors after 120 secs.
logger (22.06.2018 13:26:16): services activated.
logger (22.06.2018 13:26:16): can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory
logger (22.06.2018 13:28:16): message above repeats 4 times.

Also Network tab shows:
System Message
Error: Missing SSID

When I enter the specific SSID rather than the "Known SSIDs" in the dropdown, the meteobridge goes down.

How do I provide remote access?

Thanks

katlathrop, I have removed those details as they were publicly visible and anybody could have accessed your system. Could you send those same details again to "info(at)meteobridge.com"

Thanks. I just sent an email with the information. Hope that is the best way, or do I need to create a PM?

When logging in I see the warning message in red that a USB 2.0 hub is needed. That also is in line with the serial device drop-offs the system messages report. Please use a USB 2.0 hub (a cheap passive one) and you will be fine.

I have a USB hub. It’s the one that came with the meteobridge. It’s connected and always has been.

I bought a new 2.0 usb hub and connected it and now I’m getting the following message: System Message
Error: USB problem detected. Please connect your weather station by using a USB 2.0 hub in between. But it is connected between, so for some reason, it isn’t picking up the usb hub.

Never heard that. Are you sure it is a passive USB 2-0 hub as the one Ambient Weather is selling with it?

When you send me again the remote login credentials I can have another look.

I have sent the remote login information.

USB hub is passive. It is this type: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Onn-by-Walma ... k/46631808

Thanks again!
