New MB Pro not connecting to Vantage Vue 6250M

Post by adurrer »

I just received a new MB Pro today, and for some reason the unit will not see the Vantage Vue that is sitting on the same desk, 30cm away.
Any help is appreciated.
The operation would timeout before it found any signal from the unit.

Some questions?

When you say "will not see the Vantage Vue", are you saying you have a VUE ISS (inside) on the desk beside the MBPro?

If so have you confirmed the Vue TX ID, the RF Freq module are the same, all US 915MHz? Where does the Wind Station fit in, is this inside also or outside?

The VUE ISS is sitting inside on the same desk as the MB Pro. The VUE is used as a portable unit, and moves around with me, so I am first testing it inside to ensure that the unit connects properly before deploying it.
The RF Frequency (to the best of my knowledge) is the US 915MHz. I've ensured this is set on the MB as well (I've also tried other frequencies) The model number (6250M) indicates US - metric model.
The wind station is actually non-existent, and was an incorrect addition by myself. I am only trying to connect the VUE ISS.

I've also checked that the station is transmitting data on channel 1.

How long does the MB Pro unit usually take to find the station signal?

It doesn't take that long to pick up the signal, how long are you waiting?

At 3 feet about the only things that will basically prevent a connection is the correct Freq & Tx ID combination, nothing else stands out at the moment

At this point, I've been waiting about 5-10min between setting changes, just in case it takes a bit of extra time to connect. The unit generally returns a "giving up waiting for sensors" message. I've been alternating through the settings, and on the AU band (915MHZ), the rf led on the top of the device started flashing red. I've attached a screenshot of the system log.

Edit:
I'd also like to note that I changed the transmitter to channel 3 in case there was any issues related to the weather station channel. (this is why the log now shows it's listening to transmitter 3)

Edit 2:
Looks like the station has now connected. Live data is updating!
Thanks for the help. It helped narrow down the issue. :)
