Meteobridge Nano Setup SSID still viable after setup **solved**

Post by FlyingPete »

Hi,
I got my great new Meteobridge Nano a couple of weeks ago, one thing I have noticed is although it is connected to my home Wi-Fi it is still broadcasting the setup SSID I initially connected to - meteobridge-B8D81xxxxxxxx.

Is this normal? In theory someone curious could look up what a Meteobridge is and find the credentials to connect to it. Not sure how far they will get after that though.

Thanks,
Peter

Are you sure it is still accessible?

It can be seen a short wile in the list of available networks on most PC/MAC's, but one can not connect to it.
It will disappear from those lists of "known SSID's" after a day or two.

Thanks, it does appear to have stopped broadcasting now, or at least it's no visible from most devices.

The passphrase of the AP Meteobridge is setting up can be changed on "network" tab. So no worry on people trying to login.

Boris,

I have had the NANO up and running for over one month and it is working great!

I have also noticed that the setup SSID (meteobridge-....) is still broadcasting and available for connection. I have looked around on the Network tab, but I don't see any way to change the default password for the setup SSID (meteobridge-...). I did, of course, change the passphrase of my local network SSID, after I completed the setup.

Does this also, change the password for the Setup SSID (meteobridge-...)?

Thanks,

Chuck

Does this create a problem if someone outside connects using the default password?

Thanks

No, as long as you change the password for the WiFi accesspoint the NANO is setting up on its own. You can do that by connecting with your mobile device to the SSID "meteobridge-<MAC>" browse to 192.168.169.1 and change the AP passphrase.
