Ubiquiti Cam initialization failed **solved**

Post by wotseurba »

System:
Davis Vandage Vue
belfryboy-clone-usb-logger cable
TL-MR3020 (no USB hub)
RAM: 29364 kB total, 2520 kB free (91% used)
SW Version: Meteobridge 3.8 (Dec 1 2018, build 12526), FW 1.4
Ubiquity AirCam Airvision V 1.0
WU weather network

Issue:
The system has been in operation for over 2 years and working perfectly, Then:
My webcam upload to WU stopped working in May 2018. didn't have time to play with it until now.

AirCam is functioning perfectly, and can be accessed and displayed in browser locally.

I receive these Network Tab System Message:
System Message
Error: Ubiquiti Cam initialization failed
Warning: This combination of hardware platform, firmware and weather station needs a USB 2.0 Hub to have the weather station connected.

I have never used USB 2.0 Hub, as the belfryboy cable is 2.0 just that Meteobridge has never recognized it as such. My data is being gathered perfectly, so this is not any issue.

I need help with: Error: Ubiquiti Cam initialization failed I never remember seeing this error message before, and I don't know how to resolve.

WU webcam page says my webcam is not active

Weather Station Tab shows a green check-mark next to Ubiquity Cam, and the IP address are proper along with password (this has never changed) If I click on the camera the browser page opens with: " The image "http://192.168.1.15/aircam.jpg" cannot be displayed because it contains errors "

Weather Network Tab shows all green check-marks for both WU & WU camera. If I click on the WU cam it takes me to my WU webcam browser page, but of course no images are there.

Any assistance from the community will be appreciated

Another WU problem? When things work for years and in recent times the moment WU is mentioned tends to flag a problem with WU?

Well, it could be a WU problem, I waited through the missing webcam issue maybe a year ago, but after they upgraded their servers all was working again.

This issue seems more (to me) to be a Meteobridge to Ubiquity cam thing. Again, I never remember seeing the system error "Error: Ubiquiti Cam initialization failed"

I just don't know how to move forward with more troubleshooting.

Edit: I tried a different Ubiquiti AirCam (same version) with no change in symptoms

Does it show recent cam pictures when you click on camera symbol on "station" tab?
Does it feed the Meteobridge CAM service correctly?

If answer to both is "yes", it is a WU issue.

I am unsure what you are asking. Are you asking if I use External Picture (URL) service? I have never done that.

Re: Ubiquiti Cam initialization failed - SOLVED

I found a resolution to this issue.

I had a newer firmware and upgraded the AirCam to it. Went from V1.0 to V1.1.3

I remember having a new AirCam which came with firmware V3--something which I had to downgrade to V1.0 in order for it to work with Meteobridge. Ubiquity at the time sent me this V1.1.3 version.

Immediate problem solved. Images are now available and uploading.

I do not know why the same AirCam which worked for almost 2 years with V1.0 suddenly stopped integrating with Meteobridge until I upgraded the firmware to V1.1.3
