Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Hello all,
I purchased Weatherbridge from Ambient last week. I currently run a Davis Vantage Pro 2 with WeatherLinkIP 6555. I will share my connections and set up attached below. I have been struggling for the last 4 days with getting the Vantage Pro to communicate with Weatherbridge. I have no issues with connecting the Vantage Pro with the weatherlink.com live site...I have connected both the Vantage Pro and the Weatherbridge to the same router (FIOS). I was on another forum WxForum.net and one contributor there offered a lot of help and troubleshooting ideas. But we have been unable to get the communication established. He thought this may be a great site to tap into the knowledge set here to solve this issue.
Please see the attached screenshots and let me know what other information you need in addition to the below to assist me with this issue. Thanks so much in advance for any help and ideas.
Sincerely,
Paul

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Have you configured the Meteobridge Station Setup to have the Integrated Sensors as Direct ( Transmitter ID #1 ) in the Davis Station Setup Page which should have come up after you selected the Vantage ?

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
What version of firmware is installed ( found on the System Page Tab ) ?. If you don’t have the latest firmware ( currently Version 4.1 Sept 21,2019 ) please do a reboot from the System Page which will automatically install the latest firmware.
When you selected the Vantage Pro 2 Station and WLIP as you originally did ( not WLIP Live ) did you set the port to 22222 as indicated in the instructions and select the “ Found WLIP’s “ drop down menu after the box containing your IP address and select your WLIP ( I believe it should be the MAC address of your WLIP ) You should get the green check mark indicating your Station has been found and then the page with the transmitter and sensor setup should appear. If not, select the Vantage Pro 2/Vue box again and retry as suggested.
From the online setup instructions:
“These stations can be equipped with an IP-based Logger called WLIP. If you have one of these, please select WLIP operation (and how often Meteobridge should pause to allow upload to Davis Weatherlink services in parallel to Meteobridge operation) and enter IP and port (separated by a colon) in the input field next to the selection box (example: "192.168.1.222:10001"). This will tell Meteobridge to connect this station not via USB but via your LAN/WLAN (in the example on IP 192.168.1.222 at port 10001). When you don't specify a port, the WLIP default port (22222) is used. When you have a serial data logger you can map that to USB by a FTDI or PL2303 based serial to USB converter. When Vantage is connected via USB to Meteobridge please make sure that baud rate of Vantage is set to 19200, otherwise no connection can be established. Since Version 2.5 Meteobridge allows parallel use of the Vantage by a PC program, which connects to the Meteobridge on port 22222 (like with a Davis IP logger).”

Hi Big
Did you mean add that port 22222 to the IP box? the box next to it does not allow entry it just finds the WL IP
I added the port to the IP address but still no luck
Any other thoughts??
Thanks!

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Did you select the drop down menu for Found WLIPs after the IP address entry box and see if your WLIP is shown.
Is the address you’re entering as your WLIP the same address as your Meteobridge is using because they have different addresses ? . Try leaving the IP address of the vantage Vue IP address box blank and trying the drop down menu of the Found WLIP’s box to see what your Weathetbridge finds as your WLIP IP address. That will either automatically enter the correct address or then enter that IP address.
It should be the same IP address as the one that you’re successfully using to upload to Weatherlink.
If all else fails, reboot your Vantage2 Console by removing both the power supply and one of the batteries and then reinstalling both and waiting for it to fully boot up. Then try the Found WLIP’s box.
If none of these things work it suggests a hardware problem. Contact Ambient Weather Customer Service.

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Yes on the found WLIPs drop down it only showed the 1 IP address which is the one that uploads the Vantage Pro up to weatherlink.com. I will try to reboot the VP console again
Thanks for the ideas!! Please let me know if any others!

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
MB NANOs have a bit more setup options for Vantage as when connecting a Vantage Console via a USB logger with the MB.
Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger

From the online manual:
“ Some routers can be configured to block outgoing traffic on port 80. This firewall setting has to be released for the Meteobridge LAN IP, otherwise meteobridge will not be able to connect to any weather network. “
Just a shot in the dark but why don’t you try and connect your Weatherbridge to your router via WiFi instead of an Ethernet cable and see if that solves the problem.
Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
What if the Weatherlink IP and/or Vantage Pro 2 display needs firmware update?

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I tried the wireless connection that did not work - I think you need to 1st establish the wired connection before moving to wireless.
Still no luck - any other thoughts or comments are most appreciated!
Thank you!!

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
Have you verified that your WLIP configuration has Port 22222 set as the TCP Port ?. You can check this by accessing the WLIP IP address in a browser window.
That is the default port used by the WLIP and the Weatherbridge. If it’s set to some other port number, then put that port number in the Weatherbridge IP address box after the colon like you did with the 22222 earlier.
I’m also wondering if your router has some setting that is blocking tcp communication between your Weatherbridge and port 22222. You might try enabling tcp port forwarding in your router between your Weatherbridge IP address and port 22222.

Re: Trouble with Weatherbridge set up with Davis IP Logger
So just to confirm, you have a WLIP installed in your console connected via Ethernet? You do or you don't have WeatherLink Live as there was a config above trying to connect a WeatherLink live. What is the reference to wireless? NanoSD config page above appears irrelevant?
You have valid data being uploaded to WeatherLink.com via the WLIP?
