LAN Bridge ObserverIP No Live Data

Post by virus86 »

I have Meteobridge 4.2 (FW 1.3) loaded on a DLink DIR-505 A1. My ObserverIP 4.5.8 (static IP) is connected to my router via wifi extender. I am trying to simplify my setup by connecting the ObserverIP to the DLink LAN port and have LAN Bridge enabled in Meteobridge. I am able to access the ObserverIP webpage through the static IP. Meteobridge sees the ObserverIP, but there is no live data. Is there a setting missing?

I never could get it to work via LAN bridge. Plug the ObserverIP into the network and not to the Meteobridge. Better yet I really really truly recommend that you just forget the ObserverIP. The ObserverIP is a frigging nightmare as it is just unreliable when the Meteobridge is constantly hammering at its Live Data page. The ObserverIP works well enough by itself, but the minute you set up a Meteobridge forget it. What I recommend instead is that you get an Ecowitt GW1000. It is compatible with any station you were using an ObserverIP with. Yes it doesn't matter that the GW1000 is Ecowitt branded. The only thing that matters is that the GW1000 frequency matches the frequency you were using with the ObserverIP. If it is a real Ambient ObserverIP then you neeed the 915 MHz version. Ecowitt will sell you a GW1000 with any frequency you need. If you are buying from Amazon USA then it will be the 915 MHz. If you need a different frequency then contact Ecowitt directly for your order. The GW1000 is so reasonably priced that it really is a a simple decision....just do it. The Meteobridge gets data from the GW1000 via a simple local network API. You don't need to know programming nor anything about APIs. All you do is select GW1000 as your station type in the Meteobridge and give it the IP address of your GW1000....then done! Having a GW1000 is a nice benefit because you'll gain upload capability to Ecowitt.net. You can keep using the ObserverIP at the same time and it will work better now that the Meteobridge is not taxing it. This way if that is your only Ambient console then you'll still be able to use it to upload to Ambientweather.net.
