Meteobridge PRO fixed IP connection and data

Post by JohnsPro »

My system Meteobridge PRO red with Davis Vantage PRO II has been running for well over a year but the last month I have noticed that the unit was not getting on the internet after updates in ~Jan time frame. What I found was that if I use a fixed IP as it was initially setup for and working correctly since I bought the system. The boot screen would show that it did not have a DNS even though it was specified. I was able to change to DHCP and everything seems to be working as usual.
Any ideas of what to do to get the ability to use fixed IP back?
One item that might be a concern is I had more than one DNS specified and am not sure how that should be formatted. I think it was with a, in between the addresses but cannot remember how it was when it was working. The system would still fail if I entered only one and that was the same as what the DHCP specified.
On a separate note I have also lost the graphing of the transferred data data19num and data20num but there is data on the bottom of the page so not sure if this is related to my previous connection problems or is it something else unrelated.

Anything been changed or updated in your router? Where do you specify more than 1 DNS or are you actually referring to the MBPro DNS?

Really need to see your Network tab and IP/DNS settings? DNS setting on the network tab you could make the same as your gateway or you could use 8.8.8.8

Mattk,
Yes I am referring to the settings on the MBPro DNS having multiple DNS servers.

I will admit that I have a PFSense firewall that is the actual gateway to the internet.
NO changes in the time frame when the link is not connecting.
I attempted to use same IP that DHCP used for it as it is working.
I will get some time this weekend to tinker with the unit to see what else I can learn about the networking.

It is still strange that I am unable to get data in the upload and down load but the information shows where you can edit data.
Thank You

Have you tried 8.8.8.8 as the DNS

Also what does your router reserve as the DHCP block? Any static IP used within the DHCP reserved block could be something to look at.

Mattk,
I had some time today as we are having a nice snowstorm lots of ice as a precursor and ~8-12" of snow here in Central New York.
I was able to convert back to the previous fixed IP setting and everything appears to be working but it seems to always default to the external IP vs using the internal gateway. Not concerned as that doesn't prevent the unit from getting the data where it needs to go.
I still have no idea why data19num and data20num has no graphical display but still has data that you can edit.
Thank You
