Moonphase icon upload ** solved **

Post by oliverb »

I have set Meteohub to upload the Moonphase Icon daily. It worked fine for a few days but now the image is not displayed. Meteohub is uploading it with the name "moonphase.png" as set in the graph upload but it seems to be in an unknown format.

See my Weather site here http://home2.btconnect.com/brettoliver/ ... eather.htm

Any ideas?
Brett.

I can see your Lunar Phase:
Seems your browser cache having a problem.
Try pressing F5 to reload the page.

BTW: I have reworked the original moonphase icons and made them with a transparent background. If anyone is interested, let me know!

I have placed an archive with the actual icons here:
http://www.meteohub.de/joomla/index.php ... &Itemid=29

Please download, unzip and put into "/public/graphs/" if your current icons are not working.

Hi, I had the same problem. I found that the Full moon
Icon is 10,151 bytes all the others are less than 10k.
I change the mp2.png (Full moon) to just under 10k
and everything works ok. Mustbe a problem with uploading
more than 10k.

I hope this helps.

I have replaced the icon > 10k by a slightly smaller one. The new icons can now be downloaded here: http://www.meteohub.de/joomla/index.php ... &Itemid=29

You can also use a PNG optimizer such as OptiPNG (freeware) to losslessly decrease the file size of the moonphase images. For instance, my full moon icon decreased to 5,216 bytes after optimization -- that's nearly 50% smaller with no reduction in image quality!

I had similar size reduction results for all the moonphase icons, although the forecast icons are already fairly well optimized so they decrease in size by a much smaller percentage... although when serving images on a web page every byte counts!
