SanDisk 64gb industrial

OK, after initial setup of an RPI and seeing the message my SD was not supported I ordered a SanDisk 64gb Industrial SLC and I still get the same message with the new SD that local storing of data is not supported. How do I fix this? If this has been posted before and I am not finding it my apologies.

Can you post the exact and full name of the microSD ?
something like Western Digital/SanDisk SDSDQED-064G-XI (microSD Card, 64 GB, SLC Flash)
assuming you got yourself a real industrial SLC and not a pseudo-SLC ("professional" etc.), it may be a new model which is not yet in the official list and needs to be added by Boris.

What does it say on the System - Information tab under storage ?

it says the exact same thing it did with my old card but it says industrial right on the card ill take a screenshot of the card and the screen

Rather hard to find any real specifications on these so called "industrial" SD cards which is not a good sign. Also the price of these rather so called "industrial" SD cards with very high capacities may also imply the word "industrial" is nothing more than relating to operating temperatures and little to do with being MLC/TLC or SLC?

Ok, so I thought that was a lot for an SD card and the proper industrial card is a lot more. I’ve been trying to set my rpi to boot from USB SSD Because this will last a lot longer anyway and is much better solution than an SD card however it appears the Meteobridge images are too old? Has anyone had any luck setting up one to boot from USB?

1. MB will start/boot only from the internal disk, i.e. the microSD card.
The type of card is checked in the startup script. So it's either one from the list or none (but see 2.).
Booting from SSD is probably theoretically possible, but you would need to install the openWRT (OS) image there and would have to tweak a lot.

2. in my opinion the easiest and cheaper solution is to use a 16 GB SLC microSD card (+/- 28 EUR/30 USD - 24 weeks waiting though these days - see mouser.com, arrow.com - due to this shortage of SLC storage there is a possibility to temporarily circumvent the boot check and use a normal e.g. your 64 GB "industrial" microSD - the how-to-do is documented is in this forum - viewtopic.php?f=61&t=15568)

As you cannot run other applications than Meteobridge on your RPi with the openWRT and MB image, you need an external SSD only for backups. This you can easily do already today. The WD/SanDisk SLC microSDs hold 10 years and longer, and if you connect 2 stations to your MB with storage/archiving of minute-based data (usually hourly data) and have up to 15 sensors, a 16 GB card can hold 8-10 years of data.

I'd order a Western Digital/SanDisk SDSDQED-016G-XI, work with the non-SLC card until then (see workaround), and after it arrives copy the database over on the SLC card with the latest image installed (and maybe some scripts, templates, exports etc. you may have created until then). An external SSD just needs to be plugged into one of the USB3 ports. You can also use/repurpose a classical HDD 2.5" size <= 2 TB, FAT32 (can also be a 3.5" disk, but then you'll need external power supply for the disk - the RPi will not provide enough power) - there's no noticeable gain in backup speed with a SSD. Tested this myself.

I use the Sandisk Industrial card for my non-Meteobridge raspberrys. The are dual layer so they are better quality than consumer microSDs although nowhere near as good as SLCs. I have never had a problem with them.

Thanks for the replies. Ok, the reason I was wanting this is because I thought not having the proper SD card was why the dashboard doesn't work for me and I thought you could also store archival data with the proper SD so that was why I was wanting to boot from USB with better storage.
