Weather34 Aurora MKII Version 2022

Firstly lets get crap part out of the way .

For along time now I have not really been interested in the weather station hobby , in recent months only use has been todo with resolving template issues apart from that I don't use it . Seem to use my watch or phone for weather data which I guess is not too surprising has technology has leaped into everything being on your wrist or in your pocket.

So it is with deep regret but not without some thought so it is not a rational decision but I have other interests I wish to pursue and anyone who has followed my rants will know I bought a small boat last year and my obsession for dart playing brings much interest than weather station monitoring.
So with that I have one update to release and that will be it from me and any further enhancements etc to the template will stop .


So I kindly ask ignore the assumptions , ignore the been here before trolls and so on there always around to serve their own agenda nothing else. I won't have a weather station so I won't have a source to develop , resolve with etc so kindly ask please don't email or request solutions I think there is enough experience here on this forum to resolve anything that may arise or newcomers requiring some additional help to get up and running.

I hope somewhere along the line I offered Meteobridge enthusiasts, users something different something that always distanced itself from the familiar offerings readily available , there is absolutely no reason why the template should stop working or malfunction unless a significant PHP release occurs which could break things . That is quite normal for a significant PHP releases the downside its 99% upto the developer to make the necessary changes to
conform to future release. That I have done for many years basically tried to keep one step ahead but for now I see no fundamental reason for it to stop functioning .

so there we are think you can understand now why I won't be pursuing with the template any longer.

I had to let your announcement sink in... It's a great pity that you don't want to continue the development. Over the years you have created a really great template with outstanding code and design and I really hope that the template will continue to run with PHP for a long time.

Good morning

Please do not read anything else into it , judging by the emails this morning it seems no point in giving an explanation you've read something into it that doesn't exist .So please Im simply pursuing other interests , I have felt no interest in weather station monitoring over the last 6 months and I also found the template became very repetitive , I just seriously lost interest and found it all a bit tedious and uninspiring . I think when it feels like that it is time to walk away otherwise you just end up creating a meaningless mess of things without any progress , kind of like going round in circles .

I have tried my upmost best over the years to write and improve what is known as "meaningful code" ,that being the code is identified to a relevant part making it easy to diagnose and edit etc . It is something I found from other template offerings all rather a mess so I always tried to focus on meaningful code . I also tried to reduce the of the end user having to directly edit files as this a common recipe for a disaster where everyone is not on the same boat , this is why the simple updater was added it simply reduces the error chance and eradicates a lot of unwanted support requirement .

I was not perfect in fact in the last 12 months my interest waned hence a lot of mistakes that easy to correct but highlighted I was simply losing interest.

So I ask kindly there is no other reason other than I want to pursue other interests , it really is as simple that .

Thank you for the comments but please remember you owe me nothing and I owe you nothing , it was provided free without any obligations just a polite constructive discussion to resolve, enhance the template was all that was asked ..

Also I will not being offering the template out to anyone to maintain and I also won't give any personal permission to distribute. Feel free to edit , adapt to your preferences but don't distribute you will find in a very short time no one is on the same boat and the whole thing will just become a unsustainable mess .

Advice avoid public direct code/sharing editing ! not everyone is familiar with code editing , many don't use proper code editors and often leads to a broken outcome or a blank screen .Many have prior experience of PHP but many don't hence the use of simple updates and setup screen , these two reduce the risk of error . PHP 8+ is far stricter when there are anomalies in the edited code often just a blank screen will appear.

So there we are simple pursuing other interests.

That's why I want to thank you. Not so much for your unbridled zeal to construct a beautiful product. That happens often, plenty of examples. But precisely because you never lost your temper, you always (usually ) approached it positively and kept trying to solve it for the problem owner. You never did that in a pedantic way. One simply knows more than the other. One has been doing it for a long time, the other has just started.

I'm under the impression you're not from scotland, so... playing darts will be a completely different story..at least this year..

Its been a pleasure Boris , Ive enjoyed our discussions and always a productive outcome and uncomplicated , but trust me my apple watch and iPhone provides all I need .

I enjoyed the challenge toughest part is support you got to find a way to get that balanced and not get pushed out your comfort zone but the more end users the more chance of error, with much of that no fault of end user or myself just some have a good background of PHP and others its a complete new ball game .

But Ill be honest for me this Ecowitt brand and alike killed my enthusiasm months ago immensely, its like weather data on steroids and I was perplexed at the thought of supporting that brand or alike so I take my hat off to you for that alone. Their very popular but way beyond my ability to offer anything and you just end up disappointing many and Im left with an uneasy outcome .Its that part I don't want to deal with because no matter how much you apologize sincerely your message of "NO" will be seen in a different light.

Ha Scotland I've no Scottish blood in me in aware off apart from the odd glass of whisky in my youth...but yes Darts its background is a working class game !!

You mean Peter Wright ? yes it was an awesome final I was glued to it ..

Never lose my temper ? years of teaching , educating in I.T. its what I did for many years you learn that you will have a group of people in the room 50% will not have a clue what your on about that's why their there ,
you will have 30% who will get it ,
you will have 10% who know everything ,
you will have 10% are just not interested

so the trick is to find the balance and a happy medium (use the 10% who know everything to engage with those 30% who get it then you can focus on the 50% willing to learn)....

A Job all good things come to an end at some point but Im sure from what I see you shouldn't have much problem in maintaining a weather website..

thank you for the help over the years , Im sure in time someone new will come about with a fresh approach or something similar .

has for the sea Im a beginner so at the moment calm days but I also enjoy maintenance side (getting your hands dirty)..you take care ..
