Reading wind vane output?

Post by dean12 »

Ok so, long story short, I have a KestrelMet 6000 unit that i've converted to use a ESP32 and ESPhome.

I have pretty all the sensors working but I cannot for the life of me figure out the wind vane.
The wind vane and wind speed are one unit. On the bottom is a 6pin plug and it operates at 3v3.
I've tried checking for resistance, voltage etc but I cant seem to get anything from it.
I did noticed 2 magnets on the side of the part that rotates, making me think that it is using some sort of hall sensor?

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this thing integrated?
I have got wind speed working with a single wire using a pulse_counter but have no idea with the wind vane.

So frustrating.

Thanks
