Absolute Beginner Question RPi

Post by twassmer »

Dear friends,

I bought a WeatherBridge, and it does all I need but post to a website-hosted template like PWS_Dashboard. I also have a RPi 4B so I was thinking of flashing MeteoBridge to it. However, I got stuck creating the image microSD using the Pi imager as it warned me that it will delete everything on the card. I thought I would simply add the image to the Pi OS card, but this does not seem to be possible. I can use a new and dedicated SD for the Meteobridge, but it seems that the Pi needs the OS on the SD. How can I have both the OS and MeteoBridge SDs simultaneously with only one SD slot?

Thanks for helping out!

Hi Tom,

Welcome to this forum.

A WeatherBridge is a standard Meteobridge with an Ambient logo and support.
And as it is a Meteobridge, it can upload to everything you want.
Also PWS_Dashboard, as i am doing it myself at home.

Also I am the develioper of PWS_Dashboard, so please post your problems here or at the PWS_Dashboard discussion area

At last count, there are more then 120 out of 700 known PWS_Dashboard users who use Meteobridge/WeatherBridge to upload their weather-station data to their PWS_Dashboard website.

A Meteobridge is the only system on the hardware it uses. Same for your WeatherBridge or on your Raspberry. No keyboard, no display.
It has its own low-level operating system and takes control of all connections.
There can and will be no other software on the SD.

Before flashing your SD card, you could post the problem with the URL to your PWS_Dashboard site, maybe als a screenshot of your MB FTP upload settings
And if needed, a Meteobridge supports remote support you can switch on to give remote access to your device. Either for the developer of Meteobridge if it is a Metebridge problem. Or to me if you can not get the upload working correctly.

Regards,
Wim

Thanks Wim! Fantastic to meet the creator of this great template! I would be perfectly fine if I could run this on the WeatherBridge despite not having local storage. Installing Meteobridge on the RPi would have been an unpleasant complication. I will try to follow your instructions on the Weatherbridge if they are possible. The link to the PWS_Dashboard forum leads me to a 404. Can you repost the link? OK - I figured it out: it reads the correct link https://discourse.weather-watch.com/c/i ... shboard/76 but the URL behind the link is incorrect: PWS_Dashboard%20discussion%20area
Looks like the screenshots are not from the base version of the WeatherBridge I have but the PRO or NANO version. Does it work with the standard version: https://ambientweather.com/awn-weatherbridge
I installed PWS_Dashboard on mt web server and tried to setup the FTP connection and event according to the above screenshots and in the PWS_Dashboard setup. I have a page now at http://wassmer.org/pwsWD/index.php?them ... k&units=us but it does not seem to receive data
OK - it receives data - now I need to adjust the template to get my PurpleAir sensor on and delete the not-used and not-needed parts.

Thanks, I adapted the link.

They are all similar, but some has more features, especially more memory

Please read the cron documentation

As you are using a Meteobridge you can instruct to start the cron-script every 5 minutes.
That way all high-lows and historical data will be correct also.
A visitor will not need to wait or refresh the page to see the latest "non-station" data such as forecasts a.s.o.
and delete the not-used and not-needed parts
Do not delete scripts, all parts can be switched off by the settings or with URL-parameters to test the effects.

Succes,
Wim
