SMB Shares Stopped

Post by iasgoscouk »

Sometime this morning, i lost connection via my PC mapped drive to the NLSU.

When looking at the application the 'system info' page shows : Error file open: /var/run/smbd.pid: No such file or directory and the status of SMB is 'stopped'.

I have tried 2 reboots, and each time upon startup, a Recomputation is automatically queued/started and completed, but SMB still shows stopped.

Looked at the logs and cannot see anything obvious. I am a knowledgeable Linux Fedora user, but unable to find myself around this version of Linux to try and find the problem.

Can anyone offer any advice.

Is there a manual way of starting SMBD ?

thanks

This looks like an USB stick error. I would recommend to save data with "backup" function on "maintenance" pages, installing the USB stick new, and then to restore the backup data.

files system corruptions can be caused by a spontaneous power down or brown out, which the usb sticks don't seem to handle too well.

A check of the USB stick might also be useful.
