Hi,
I found this little Linux device on the net and found that it is verry impressive and mabe interesting to use with MeteoHub if you compare it's 1200MHz CPU with a NSLU2 266MHz CPU speed.;)
Power comsumption: Less than
5 Watts under normal operation!
The platform is built using Marvell’s Kirkwood series system-on-chip (SoC) design with a 1.2GHz Marvell Sheeva™ CPU processor equipped, 512Mbytes of FLASH and 512Mbytes of DRAM. The plug also features a 2.0 USB port to allow users to run applications that require a hard disk or other peripheral.

Yep, downside is that is has just one USB connector so you will need a USB hub to get USB stick and weather station connected. Doing that would compromise the minimalistic design of the unit und I fear it will add trouble with USB stick reliability. Let's see, if a successor will improve on USB ports and/or internal flash storage.
Another question is, if debian 4/5 is available for the processor architecture... I haven't checked this so far...

I've got one of these. That slot in the side of it is for an SD Memory card. Why not use that instead of a USB drive, the SD card and can be mounted like a drive. Put in a 8GB, 16GB, or bigger card and your set.

P.S. I would love to see Meteohub ported to this device.

That is interesting. I had overlooked the SD slot option. Ok, I will get one to have a closer look.
...but it will take 4 weeks until they get it delivered to me from the US. Looks like they are short on supply ;-)

Admin,
I would be willing to send you mine. I haven't done anything with it yet, beside booting it up. You can get started on it and send it back when you get yours. I have everything that came with it in the box.
I bought it to set it up with my weather station but I haven't had the time. Now that I found your site and software, I'm willing to wait longer to see if you decide to port your software over to it.
Just let me know.
Thanks,
B) James

Thanks Geert. I hope my order might be served 12th June. They seem to get a batch of units then. Demand looks to be much higher than expected.
They also claim units might drop below $50 over time, but that will not include an integrated SD card reader which I will need for Meteohub to record data.

I have received my SheevaPlugs and started porting Meteohub to debian lenny on these units. I am still far from having it ready for production, but first experimental versions do run...
At the moment Meteohub runs from USB stick, but I would like to have it running from SD card freeing USB connector to get connected to the weather station... so quite some things to tryout...

First port to SheevaPlug has been made based on Meteohub 4.4 and Debian Lenny 2.6.29 (kirkwood). Still expeimental, but if someone is willing to give it a try on his SheevaPlug, please drop me a note.
Doucumentation how to install a Meteoplug can be found here:
