Format Cmd text box

I am running V4.4c.

I notice on the Define Graph page there is a Format Cmd text box.
What is this or what does it do? - I cant figure it out and I can't find a reference in the 4.4 manual.

this line allows you entering a few gnuplot - the program on meteohub to draw the graphs -
e.g. this one

set locale "de_DE" | set style increment user 
| set terminal png x2D5770 xE6E6FA xE6E6FA 8 | set mxtics 4

[/size]
set locale "de_DE" switching time/date scale to German and so on.
