No rain data being sent to WD

Post by MJC55 »

I updated to Meteohub V4.5 a few days ago. We had our first rain today after few weeks of dry weather. I noticed that Meteohub is not sending rain data to a PC I have at another location. It appears that all other weather data is being received. I checked WD Data Export and rain is enabled. I have not made any changes to my remote PC so I believe that the problem lies with Meteohub. My rain data being sent to Weather Underground appears to be working fine. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

How are you sending data to WD?
If you are using the "logging protocol" then the "WD Export page" is not at all relevant.

If you are using the "logging protocol", then possibilities include:
a) Meteohub is so busy doing a recompute that it isn't able to service the "latest sensor every 3 seconds" request from WD. I this is the case the problem will resolve itself in due course. When I used to use an NSLU2 for Meteohub I sometimes found it prudent to shut WD down while a recompute was in progress.

b) There is a small problem in the Meteohub data that means that the "latest sensor every 3 seconds" request is failing. If this is the case, use the Meteohub feature to clean up the data.

To diagnose either of the above type some thing like this into a browser:

http://192.168.0.77/meteolog.cgi?mode=data

Where 192.168.0.77 is the IP of your Meteohub. That is the equivalent of what WD is doing for its "latest sensor every 3 seconds" request. If you browser doesn't receive a data record, then neither will WD.

N.B. WD also does a "all sensors in the last minute" request, and that in not affected by situations a) or b), however WD only looks at rainfall data in the "latest sensor every 3 seconds" style of request. :(

Thanks for the info David. My problems started when I updated from 4.4c to 4.5. Later in the day WD started receiving rain data but it was in blocks of .04in. My rain graph looked like a set of stairs. Another problem I had after updating to 4.5 was with wind data. WD appeared to only receive data every few minutes. I reverted back to v4.4c and now everything is working fine. Not sure wht. Thanks again.

I suspect these (especially the rain one) are variations on the root causes mentioned earlier.

I've no idea why they should affect your communications between WD and 4.5, but not 4.4c?
