Loading CF from USB mem stick how long?

I am building meteohub onto an ALIX 1d. I have booted up and the data is being xfered from my mem stick to my test 2 GB CF card (I am still waiting for my 4 GB card to arrive).

How long should this process take the screen says Mount USB stick as /dev/sda etc
then at the end says process number

it then repeats and the process number goes up.

It has been doing this for hours.

Is this normal or have I made a mistake in the setup somewhere?

My mistake. Should have read the manual. Forgot to remove mem stick and change 1st boot device! Works fine now.
