e-mail username not accepting special characters

I´m trying to setup e-mail alerts from Meteohub and find that when I try and use my login information for my mailserver the test mail fails. The user name required for my mailserver contains ´+´ a plus sign in it and I think this is the point of failure. I can get testmails to send if I use the admin account on my mailserver which has a login user without special characters.

Is this a new issue or a know problem with Meteohub?

...I think the same is true for passwords to weather networks. I had a special character in the password to weather underground and I was not able to get it working. Finally I found out that I had to remove the '#' in my password. It works since then.

No problem with special characters in the password. It´s just the username that seems to be causing problems. What´s interesting is that when I click to save the mail setup information the username then shows with a space where the plus sign should be.
