Difference meteograph.cgi?text=all vs WUnderground

Post by D70 »

Looking to my meteograph.cgi?text=all output I get:

Code: Select all

seqday1_utcdate 20101005111338_20101004111338_20101003111338_20101002111338_20101001111338_20100930111338_20100929111338_20100928111338_20100927111338_20100926111338_20100925111338_20100924111338_20100923111338_20100922111338_20100921111338_20100920111338_20100919111338_20100918111338_20100917111338_20100916111338_20100915111338_20100914111338_20100913111338_20100912111338_
seqday1_localdate 20101005111338_20101004111338_20101003111338_20101002111338_20101001111338_20100930111338_20100929111338_20100928111338_20100927111338_20100926111338_20100925111338_20100924111338_20100923111338_20100922111338_20100921111338_20100920111338_20100919111338_20100918111338_20100917111338_20100916111338_20100915111338_20100914111338_20100913111338_20100912111338_
seqday1_wind0_gustspeed_kn 2.3_7.1_3.7_1.5_3.5_2.0_1.6_1.7_1.2_
seqday1_wind0_speed_kn 2.0_6.4_3.3_1.3_3.2_1.7_1.4_1.5_0.7_
seqday1_wind0_maindir_deg 158_180_203_135_68_158_180_158_158_
seqday1_wind0_chill_c 15.0_14.3_17.4_15.4_14.9_15.1_15.9_15.6_13.1_
So in October, 3 i get a gustspeed of 3.7 knts = 6.8 km/h

Looking in my WUnderground I get a max gust for Oct-3: 72 km/h

So, why this discrepancy?

Looks to me like the gust peek was on October 4th. Please check with your graphs what they say.
WU sometime has timezone problems. When storm was near midnight, that might explain this a bit.
UTC and local time is identical in your timezone? Maybe, you forgot to set that correctly (or are you in the UK)?

Here is the generated graph:

I checked the dates and everything is OK.

By the way, I'm posting because I think that seqday1_wind0_gustspeed_kn refers to the max gust of the day, right? Or is this variable an average of gust winds of the day?

looks like a tiny bug. But I will not change this, as to many programs make use of the current format. Please skip the first time stamp and you are fine.

Sorry, I didn't realise the meaning of your last post.

Again...

Looking for seqday1_wind0_gustspeed_kn in my first post I don't find any single value that approaches to 38.8 knts. So where is my mistake? Why Meteohub sent to weatherunderground 72 km/h (~38.8 knts)?

"seqday1_gust_speed" reports the average gust speed of the day, not the maximum.
