NSLU2 won't stay on with USB plugged in
The linksys box stays on 24/7 until I plug in the weather station, an Oregon Scientific WMR100NA, then it turns off within an hour or two, every time.

Re: NSLU2 won't stay on with USB plugged in
looks like an instable/defective NSLU2 too me.

Do you think I could solder the on/off switch to be on permanently?
Re: NSLU2 won't stay on with USB plugged in
it is just a push button, soldering actions will not bring a cure.

I could be a power supply related issue as well.
I think that the WMR100 draws power from the USB port, so it might just push it over the top. This could happen with a marginal power supply.

I'll try a different power supply if I have an interchangeable one.
What would I replace the NSLU2 with? Are they still made?

If the problem turns out to be an excessive USB power draw, perhaps as a test, you can put a powered USB hub between the WMR100NA and the NSLU2. Theoretically this should offload the power draw from the NSLU2's USB port.

d_l, you helped me get this thing online a while ago and I expect you have another good idea. Thank you. I thought the NSLU2 was powering off because of power glitches coming from the grid and so bought a ups. Between the ups and a powered usb hub, this little U2 unit is going to have a lot of support.d_l wrote:If the problem turns out to be an excessive USB power draw, perhaps as a test, you can put a powered USB hub between the WMR100NA and the NSLU2. I tried a powered USB hub but that wasn't the problem. So I bought a new after market power supply/cord. So far so good. Thanks for your help!
