Meteohub error - Read-only file system

Post by Joe200 »

I have Meteohub v4.7 installed on a 4GB USB stick for a long time ago, in NSLU2 hardware.

The USB stick never restarted since I have installed Meteohub software. But this is not my problem, I think. I never had any data errors, data upload failures, or any other problems with Meteohub. The data upload process was always fine, and NSLU2 has never failed too.

The “system” storage started to fill (as normal), since the first day working, and when it reached 99%, nothing happened. It stayed always at 99% without lowering this value (I think that this happened because Meteohub/NSLU2 never restarted). My old USB stick (that I had before the current) restarted all months, and automatically, and system storage never reached 99%. The same not happens with this stick. Why?...

But my real problem happened yesterday. Data upload stopped working (but not all of them). I have some graphics uploaded with the last 3 and 24 hours and the last 7 days data, for temperature humidity, etc... Since yesterday, graphics stopped showing data. This happened since midnight, when the dashboard usually “resets” the values for the new next day (in “today” line).

I have the Meteohub Dashboard uploaded, too. Strangely, the Dashboard shows updated data in the first line, as normal. But the rest of the lines do not show the same. Since this happened, the “last 60 minutes” “last 24 hours” and “today” lines “stopped” updating data. The last data showed were the data that occurred at midnight.

Even more strange, I have data being uploaded to all weather networks, and the data is successfully updated (to Meteoclimatic, Wunderground, etc), and is the current data. In short, everything stopped showing actual data since that time, except the first line of the Dashboard. See figures below:

I can access meteohub without any problems, everything is normal, so I tried one thing: I went to "Manage Graphs" menu to see if everything was ok. I opened one of the graphics (last 3 hours - temperature) and, after checked that all was ok, I clicked on "Save As", and then it appeared to me the follow error:

Error file open: /data/graphs/Temp3hrs.mg: Read-only file system

Then, I accessed "Define Graphs" menu and I made one “graphic-test” to see if older data was rightly stored. I built a graphic to show the temperature, every 5 minutes, of 5th of January this year (for example) and when I clicked "Display", the same error appears again. Looks like Meteohub have no data stored... Or that it is overwriting the data...

Here are some informations from my Meteohub. Please don't be scared because of Uptime values, lol...

Storage
Swap: 2MB of 127MB used (1%)
System: 401MB of 402MB used (99%)
Data: 384MB of 3180MB used (12%)

Uptime: 264 days, 3 hours, 42 minutes
System Load: 0.21, 0.24, 0.29

Weather Data Recomputation: completed
Weather Data Logging: running (last data: 3 sec)
Weather Network "Rapid Fire": running
SSH Login: running
SMB Shares: running
Time Synchonization: running

What can I do? Can I try to restart meteohub through the software itself to see if system storage lows than 99%? And why this happened?

I almost sure that the problem is in the USB stick. If I am right, then, I must buy another USB stick, right? If the answer is yes, I'm thinking in installing the last version and last updates of Meteohub (version 4.7 update 4.8i).

I would like to know, too, if possible, if there is any way to recover the data since 7th November 2011 (the last time I did an manual backup - saving data day by day, etc...)

Regards and thanks for the attention

USB stick is dead. Please save data and setup a new one.

Thanks for the reply.

Just one more thing, I have one more question: on NSLU2, can I set meteohub on a 4GB SD card, connected to a USB card reader, of course, instead of a 4GB USB stick?

I noticed that USB sticks break down too often... Is it the same thing, using what I said above? Will, if possible to use this combination, the SD card last longer than the USB stick?

when you go with a SLC SD card like the "Integral Endurance" you should have no problems.

So, I should have no problems with using a 4GB SD card in a USB card reader? Sorry, I didn't understand the first part, can you say it in other words please? :)

You can go with a SLC USB stick like transcend JetFlash130 (hard to get a hand on) or use a SD card with USB-card-reader with a SLC SD card like the one from "Integral Endurance".
