Installation of mast for my weather station

I am thinking about buying a ws2080 weather station and the Ambient Weather EZ-30-12 Stable Mounting kit w/ Mast. I will mount it on the side of my house and above the roof. Thinking ahead when the batteries have to be changed, will I have to take the poles down or are the poles hinged some way or other. The poles will be too high to reach. Even with and extension ladder the roof slant will but the unit out of reach. Do you have any suggestions.
