Dear all,
A friend and I, we have an Alix.3D3 with VGA, WLAN and pre-installed Meteohub software (VARIA store), connected to a Davis Vantage Vue and uploading data to Weather Underground and Meteoclimatic.
Since the system is in a village, 250 km away from our homes, we access normally to the meteohub through the Internet. The system worked flawessly for ten months, but one month ago it stopped sending data and wasn't reachable. When my friend went there to see what was going wrong, he had two problems:
- When he turned on the system, it started normally but it suddenly turned off after a few seconds (and that happened again and again)
- He couldn't find the sheet with the activation code (!)
I can not reproduce all his (desperate) trials to re-start the system, but the final result is:
- The system is not detected by the router (and we have tried with three different routers)
- When we turn it on, only wan green led is on (the one closer to the power input)
- When we connect it to a monitor through the video cable we see the following error message:
unit [1] segfault at b7ff1504 eip b7f9d573 esp bfd08768 error 4
I have browsed in the forum and I found that is a segmentation fault and that means that the system is trying to acces the memory but is not able to do it.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem?
Thanks
Unable to access my system

Re: Unable to access my system
Looks like it's something similar to what happened here:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2671&hilit=FAT
In brief:
- No IP signaling when the system starts
- No access from the router
- Meteohub does not start
It looks like there is a problem with the CF card and we need to recover the data before formatting. Or it could be something worst?

Re: Unable to access my system
I just developed a similar problem, complicated because I'm in Arizona for a couple of more weeks. The station is in Michigan.
My station wasn't reporting to WU tonight, and on checking, I see it stopped doing so at a scheduled 9 a.m. EDT reboot. That occasionally happens, but I'm able to reboot remotely. Tonight, I can't raise Meteohub on the Alix 3D3 from here and the router tells me it doesn't see the Meteohub as an attached device.
I'm sending a neighbor over Sunday to check power and Ethernet, but from the previous discussion, I suspect the problem is inside the Alix.
One other point: I was getting emailed reports of a low battery at THB0. I can see that failure of the sensor would stop reports to WU, but it wouldn't take the Alix off line, would it? If it's a factor, I'll tell him where I keep some batteries.
