Version 1.6 -- introducing weather cam

Post by admin »

Version 1.6 does bring these changes:
  • fixes a bug that prevents from reading data from acurite stations via USB hub.
  • adds optional client bridging mode that enables a Wifi connected Meteobridge to connect devices connected to the Meteobridge's LAN port with WLAN.
  • adds support for Ubiquiti AirCam to be used as weather cam for Weather Underground and for upload of weather pics via FTP to a user's server. Picture quality is fine for a 100 Euro priced consumer cam which can handle varying daylight situations quite well.
  • adds support for new AirCam firmware 1.2, which provides pictures in 1280x720 resolution. Meteobridge automatically detects firmware version of AirCam and loads pictures in best available resolution. See pics here: http://meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/Forum
Wiki http://www.meteobridge.com does reflect these changes additions. Please have a look there how to make use of the new options.

OK my AirCam upload does not work. Probably there is something I overlooked.
Installed the Ubiquity AirCam. Using the browser it shows correct images.
Meteobridge ==> Select Station ==> WeatherCam inserted IP adress and button Initialize Cam pressed.
Correct answer from meteobridge. Push saved button.
Shows next to the select field description of cam and version of firmware 1.1.3
Meteobridge ==> Push Services ==> individual FTP upload shows extra line with Aircam text and correct IP address.
Set the two fields: interval every minute, path: my path as used for other uploads and name cam.jpg: /httpdocs/weather2/uploadMB/cam.jpg
Pushed save button.

Nothing happens. Rebooted. Removed other upload because wiki mentions 4 uploads using FTP. Reboot again.
The normal FTP and HTTP uploads work correct at the set intervals. The Aircam picture is NOT uploading.

As I want to be sure of quality of the pictures and the upload process, I am NOT uploading anything to WeatherUnderground (yet).

No messages in the log other than the extra save data I tried;
logger (01.07.2013 16:34:55): child process received update persist db signal (17).
logger (01.07.2013 16:34:55): parent process received update persist db signal (17).
logger (01.07.2013 16:34:55): update meteobridge configuration data

Has anyone an idea?

Wim van der Kuil

Edit: Just to be sure I added the WeatherUnderground Cam upload.
At the Meteobridge ==> Live Data tab it shows message Weather Underground Cam: No weather network traffic
But all live weather data is shown on that same tab with continuous changing values and times. So there is weather trafic, I think

Edit: WiKi says (in italics) :
If a red cross appears left to the selected mark, press "Initialize Cam" to configure cam in a way needed for Meteobridge.
There was a red cross, so i pushed Init Cam for a second time
After that a green mark should appear.
No green mark, the same red cross
If not, please inspect error messages on top of page.
No error message but a nice messag (in red) Initialization of AirCam successfully done
Initialization of cam only needs to be done once.
I do it multiple time, same message initialization succesfully done, but still the red cross and no upload.

Edit: "SOLVED" I upgraded the Cam to firmware 1.2
Again there was a red cross, but this time it changed to and green mark after pressing "Initialize Cam" .
Had to reboot because there was no cam upload in the push services.
After reboot the cam upload was succesfull and now "it works as advertised".
Fine job Boris. Hope you can add other camera's in the future because this one needs an wired internet connection. No built in wifi (yet?). But the pictures are better than my two year old camera which have set me back twice the amount of money as I paid now for this nice, small but quality looking camera.

when you have the meteobridge connected via wlan,
you can connect the cam directly to the meteobridge
via an ethernet cable and use meteobridge as wlan bridge for the cam as well.
this will need to have the bridge flag set on network tab.
