Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
After 2 days and 16 hrs my TP Link3020 no longer wants to talk to the Nat Geographic 265C (ws1080 clone I think?). Why?? I hope that this is not going to be a regular occurrence since I was hoping this would be a rock solid device to replace a netbook for my Davis system. Help!
Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
Argh. Here's the log:
logger (20.06.2013 06:59:37): child process received update persist db signal (17).
logger (20.06.2013 06:59:37): update meteobridge configuration data

I will reboot this thing. Looks like the configured TP link is headed for eBay.
Glad I did not get a license.
UPDATE: As I expected, an update of the Meteobridge router reestablished communication with the console. Disappointing that I should need to do that. I will monitor this to see if it continues, but if it does, then I can't use it. Look for a deal, then.

Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
I disagree that Meteobridges are not running stable, this must be someting specific with your setup.
When you tell me the MAC, I can have a look at it.
A few questions to narrow down possible root causes...
1) Did the WH-1080 which is cheapest consumer station around run flawlessly with you other computer rig?
2) Timout messages indicates that RF reception at the choosen console position might be a problem. Does console receive recent data?
3) Do you have the necessary USB 2.0 hub inbetween?

Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
Sorry for starting off so harsh, but it was areal disappointment.
Surprisingly, the Nat Geo 265C ran flawlessly for days and days connected or unconnected to the PC (Easyweather).
Console was in the same spot for two + days but I can move it if you think that would help. It is about 6 meters through one wall to the wx station.
Yes, I have a Startech hub in the middle. I tried 4 cheap Chinese ones before I went out and bought one specifically for Meteobridge.
Where do I send the MAC? (And out of curiosity, will you be able to access it through firewalls etc.??)

Don't get me wrong: I REALLY REALLY want thsi to work reliablly with my Vantage Pro (but it will be in the mountains 500 kms away)
Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
Please send mac to "info(at)meteobridge.com".
Login via MAC works for me as follows:
1. switch "allow smatbedded to login in remotely" on system tab of your Meteobridge must be set.
2. I register the MAC on the server that provides application stack to your Meteobridge during Meteobridge boot.
3. When you reboot, downloaded application stack for your system provides a procedure to set up a ssh tunnel to my server, which allows login for me only. I will need passwords or (better) password should be set to default.
4. when you switch off remote login feature, connection will be cut on next reboot.
This is a very effective way to give support and the user can control it.
As it is out-going ssh traffic your firewall should be fine with it.

Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
Thanks for that explanation. I can live with that. Will send the info to you. BTW, over on wxforums, Brian of WD fame said these devices (Nat Geo 265C) are known to have USB drop outs. It was only about 60 Euros so I should not expect much I guess. But there was little explanation in the log to suggest that. Thanks for the help.
Re: Meteobridge Lost Connection to Wx Station
Got the latest FW. Seems rock solid. Thanks for the great service!
