Blocking bad obs

Post by tmcgee824 »

Hello! Once every two or three days it seems, my station (an Ambient Weather WS-2080) reports a bad observation This ob always has a temperature of 32 F and a dewpoint of -18.4 F. I'm able to remove these from my own database easily, but not networks such as Weather Underground, Weather For You and CWOP. On Weather Underground I can at least delete the offending submission, but that does not always remove it from the daily summary. For the other networks, there is no way to remove it. For myself and I'm sure many others here, it is a matter of pride to provide quality data and seeing these dropouts is painful (especially since they completely throw off the statistics for daily lows).

What I am wondering is since it is always the same (T, Td) pair being pushed through, would there be a way to implement a sort of limited quality check that does not allow an observation with these specific values to make it to the networks?

Thank you!

I too would be interested in this, but perhaps have it be a range setting; if a certain sensor value is outside of a certain range, then ignore and do not upload?

Example:

Obviously a dewpoint of -99.9 cannot happen; so I'd like to be able to set a range where if dewpoint is outside the range of say -30C to 60C, then mark this reading as invalid and do not upload it.

<THB date="20130915125705" id="thb0" temp="14.7" hum="61" dew="-99.9" press="974.8" seapress="1023.4" fc="-1"/>
<WIND date="20130915125705" id="wind0" dir="180" gust="0.0" wind="0.0" chill="6.5"/>
<TH date="20130915125705" id="th0" temp="6.5" hum="98" dew="-99.9"/>

I wonder if you did ever see the marked XML as stated above. Or is it just an invention for purpose of explanation?

The bad dew entries at WU are resulting from something strange at WU and are not uploaded data sets from Meteobridge. I have not fully understood so far, when this happens, but I doubt that Meteobridge is uploading that data. If you have alternative observations, please let me know.

You are correct, that XML is for example only; although those values are making it to WU and also PWS.

If you look in these entries, there are a few in a row that are incomplete. Those are exactly the times that I had applied changes to the configuration in MeteoBridge.

Also, if you look at the "Weather History for the Rest of This Month" on my WU page, you can see the Dewpoint value at -99.9F. I had already deleted the bad entries from the history, but as you can see the monthly values are already polluted.

I have no problem if you would like to log into my MeteoBridge device, just let me know and I'll PM the MAC address.
