I'm trying to see if I can get a USB webcam to work with the DC01 box... We got it from ambient weather as a 'weatherhub 4'. I see there's places where webcams are mentioned to work, sort of, with meteohub... I plugged in a webcam, and I see it listed in the dmesg log,
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 046d:081b Logitech, Inc. Webcam C310
but I don't know if this camera works with meteohub, and there's no 'webcam' on my web-administration page.
From what I understood, which is very limited, linux seems to use one driver for all usb webcams? something like that.. and so, it seems like it would be not terribly difficult to do.
If the meteohub software doesn't support it, would the DC01 be able to support it anyway? like, writing a script that runs every so often (5 minutes maybe) and takes a picture and uploads it to weather underground?
Anyone can set me straight, or give me a little more idea what I'm trying to do is possible, I'd appreciate it. I did find that I could login to DC01 box running meteohub via SSH, with root access and all that. My linux is pretty rusty, but I can muddle through it. I don't think the last time I used linux, that USB was a very common thing, and don't remember much about drivers in linux anyway. Its been a long time.
DC01 /'weatherhub' and USB webcam

Re: DC01 /'weatherhub' and USB webcam
meteohub running on an iConnect does quite well with a cheap USB webcam. I've been using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 on my weather station for quite a while now. I installed the imagemagick package for debian wheezy (the apt-get sources have to edited first) and use a custom script that acquires the image, takes the meteohub live data and stamps the image then uploads it to an ftp server for use elsewhere.
Here is an example image take recently:
So yes, it is possible for meteohub to run a nice webcam with a little bit of customization. I don't have a DC01 so I have no idea if it will work on one, but t should.
