Acurite Internet Bridge/MeteoBridge startup sequence

Post by prestwickwx »

I am new to the Meteobridge (recently registered), but I have been very pleased with the performance. I do have one issue that perhaps someone else has solved.

At times, when changing configuration details in one of the browser interface tabs, the unit will freeze or require a reboot and data stops passing through the Meteobridge from the Acurite bridge. Following a reboot it is very difficult to get the data flowing again. I often have to power down both devices, connect and reconnect the network cables, reboot, etc. At times it takes 15 or 20 minutes to get the data "flowing" again - and by then the WU has dropped the Weather Station.

Is there a particular sequence that should followed in powering on the two devices, etc., to get things synchronized and data "flowing" again, quickly?

Thanks for your help.

All I can tell you is that I am not having any problems with reboots or restarts. I haven't had any freezes. Could it be a hardware problem?

In general the Acurite Bridge support drives Meteobridge to the edge regarding storage usage.
That is, because the libcap needed to monitor and analyze the IP traffic flowing by is a killer
in terms of storage. I tried to bring down total storage demand by unloading mysql service
unless required, but when web interface also starts it may result to out of RAM situations
sometimes, when unit fails or reboots.

Are you using mysql? What push servies are you using?
Unmarking the remote login option also spares RAM.

I appreciate the information. I am not using MySQL. I am pushing to the WU and PWS. I was also testing a FTP template. I am not using the template now and it does seem to be better. The last reboots have done fine. I also think that I was not waiting long enough for synchronization. It seems to take a little time for the Meteobridge to start "grabbing" the data from the Acurite bridge after a reboot or power down. Thanks again.

When I have a router "hiccup" it usually knocks off my meteobridge and requires a restart. I unplug power to both MB and the AcuLink bridge, plug MB back in and wait for the rapid flashing to stop, then plug in the AcuLink bridge. When the blue lights flash, all is good.

I have noticed that the RAM usage is around 93% whenever I look. I am only using WU and PWS currently. Would I be better off with the DIR-505L that has 64 MB of RAM?

With 93% you are on the upper limit. A DIR-505 will push that limit completely away. switching off "remote access" will also give additional headroom.

If I decide to switch to the DIR-505, what is the procedure for transferring my license to the new device?
Thanks.
