Update 4.7i

Post by admin »

Update to Meteohub V4.7i (NSLU2, x86, SheevaPlug, DreamPlug) brings these features:
  • Adds Vantage forecast texts in Italian (actual_thb?_fc_textit) and Dutch (actual_thb?_fc_textnl) to the list of variables. WD-Live feed will be supported with forecast texts based on language selection on "dashboard" page. Not supported languages will result in English texts.
  • Supports Toradex USB OAK Sensors for Temp/hum and Pressure. Only one sensor of each type can be used. Each sensor has to be defined as a weather station, sensors need to be prepared before installation so that they do send data at regular intervals (at least once a minute). Still experimental
  • Supports UK's MetOffice WOW network (still experimental)
  • Some enhancements on backup/restore function. Indicates if there is a backup file to restore from and displays backup date.
  • Supports cheap USB TEMPer devices as additional weather station type
  • Supports setting of Vantage logger's recording interval fom "weather station" page.

is the Lux device also supported and would it write the correct LUX value into meteohubs database?

Oak USB Sensor Luminosity (LUX) (V1.2a)

I also have a lux and a distance OAK sensor here, but I still struggle to get data from them.
Conversion from Lux to Wqm would be applied, assuming the it is a normal solar spectrum.

I am trying the experimental support for UK Metoffice WOW network today. Many thanks for adding this feature, it will be very useful indeed.

EDIT:
Although the log file shows these errors, the data does appear to be getting uploaded to WOW OK. :D

It does not appear to be working here:

All I see in the Alarm log is:
2011.06.14 08:47:04 meteohub: weathernet: metoffice: no response from metoffice
2011.06.14 09:02:10 meteohub: weathernet: metoffice: no response from metoffice

.

If there is anyway to get more information from logfiles please let me know and I will try to help.
How often does the data get sent to WOW? (It looks like 15 minutes from the error log) - EDIT I see I can change it at the bottom of the page.

Some more questions about WOW support feature.

This is the data that is appearing at the WOW site for my station:
Image

It appears to be putting in the MSL Pressure in the Pressure at Station column and then calculating the MSLP from that! This is the fault of WOW.
From their notes:
24/05/11: Automatic Data Upload - Display of Pressure Readings: Most interfaces to Automatic Weather Stations have only one field for pressure. WOW assumes any reading in this field to be the "At Station' Pressure rather than 'MSLP'. Therefore, be aware that if your AWS is submitting MSLP in this field then WOW will interpret this as 'At Station' and apply a conversion to produce a different MSLP reading. The system will be changed to check which pressure is being submitted in the "Site" fields and react accordingly, such that if you state that 'MSLP' is being supplied then WOW will display that data only and in the correct field, if 'At Station' Pressure is being supplied then WOW will apply the conversion and display both in the relevant fields.

Can you clarify what data meteohub does send to WOW?

Does it send min max 24 hour figures for temperature?

What units does it use and what resolution, I note figures to 2 decimal places for some data - is that perhaps conversion from imperial to metric at WOW or at meteohub?

I understand WOW expects to see data sent in imperial units (similar to wunderground?).

Something appears to have stopped meteohub from sending data to WOW after a few hours?

2011.06.14 08:47:04 meteohub: weathernet: metoffice: no response from metoffice

2011.06.14 14:06:13 meteohub: weathernet: weather underground rapid fire: no response from weather underground

The WOW site shows no data for my station after 12:32

EDIT:

There seems to be a problem with the Wunderground website at present, after I turned off weather underground updates, the other sites, CWOP and WOW started to receive data again. (Turning off just rapid fire (which was 30 secs) was enough to get uploads to CWOP and WOW again) I have updates set for 15 minute intervals.

Trying to setup WOW on my Meteohub. Any idea where I get my 6 digit AWS PIN from?
Can't find it anywhere on the WOW site.

Edit . I presume I make up my 6 digit AWS PIN myself. The site is not very clear.

Correct, as gm4jjj has pointed out too.
It might be clearer if they generated a random value, but allowed you to edit it if you wished, as is perhaps more usual with PIN's.

I presume the PIN is just something to reduce the chances of someone else accidentally (or maliciously!) posting data to your site ID, so probably not a good idea if everyone simply uses 123456!
