8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi,
today, I tried to setup my new meteohub system with a 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310 JSK system. I think the installation was sucessfully. At the end of the installation the meteohub system told me "Please remove the USB stick and reboot". But, after I rebooted the system, everytime the GRUB loader tells me "error 18". Now, I found out that "error 18" has something to do with my 8GB CF Card or at least with high capacitiy storage devices. That's why I want to ask you, if anyone has some expierence with running a 8GB CF card on an ebox system? How can I fix it? Or isn't possible to use a 8GB card?
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I have installed meteohub without any problems using this hardware combination >>>
16GB Sandisk CF-Card
ebox-4300
Strange, that your 3310 model might have a limit with physical disks.
Did you have a look with the BIOS settings?
Is the CF-Card recognized there?

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi,
thank you for your reply! That's sounds interesting that all users who use an ebox 4400 don't have these problems...
The Bios successfully recognize an SanDisk CF drive, but it shows me that it has 0MB capacity... Is it possible that the ebox 3310 doesn't support CF cards bigger than 4GB?
Does anyone use an ebox 3300 Series with an CF card bigger than 4GB?
Thank you very much!

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
I don't own a ebox 3310 to test with (just a 3300). Resons can be:
1) CF card does not supported neded DMA modes
2) CF card is not connected as hda (resp hdc). What does the install programm exactly say? As this determines which mapping to do it might not recognize the so far unknown 3310 and might do the mapping wrong. This will result into a grub load faliure.

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
the docs from compactpc do not say anything about a disk limit for the ebox-3300 models.
as Boris mentioned:
Did you change the DIP switch for the CF-slot as described in the manual (p. 15)?

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi,
at first, thank you very much for your reply and your help!
The DIP Switch is set to "Master" and the CF-card is also recognized as the master drive. I try to use this SanDisk CF I 8GB card (http://cgi.ebay.de/kQ-CF-8-GB-Sandisk-C ... 549wt_1139 ). Perhaps you know, if this card works with the meteohub software and the ebox computer? Because I don't really know, which DMA modes are supported or where I could find this information.
The meteohub installer could mount the CF card as hdc drive. To show you what the installer exactly said, I attached three screenshots to this post. I hope they will help you a little bit to understand my problem...
Thank you very much for your support!

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Initialization of the CF card looks fine. An ebox 3300 has been detected and boot is organized to use /dev/hdc.
Did you check all BIOS settings as lined out in Appendix L2?
You can see there that Meteohub expect the CF card to be secondary master (not slave).

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi,

Yes, I know that the CF card should be Secondary Master and my last screenshot was a little test, if there is a difference, when I change the DIP switch to Slave...
So, today I checked all BIOS settings with your supposed Appendix L2 settings, but I can't find any difference. Furthermore I uploaded the relevant BIOS screenshots of my ebox 3310. Perhaps you can find something...
Do I have to format the CF card before I install the meteohub software? And which format should I use? Or do you have any other idea? Is my CF card compatible?
Thank you very much!

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi,
I think my SanDisk 8GB CF card isn't compatible with my ebox 3310-JSK system. So, I think the easiest way would be to buy a compatible CF-card. That's why I want to ask you, if you know a compatible 8GB oder 16GB CF card for my ebox system?
Or do you have any other idea to proof what's wrong with my current SanDisk CF card?
Thank you very much!

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
@Akio,

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hallo Werner,

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hi everybody,
on Monday I bought this SanDisk 8GB "Extreme" CF card ( http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWNX:IT ), where we all thought that this would be compatible with my ebox 3310 meteohub system. But today, the card was delivered and I tried to install the meteohub system and there are the same failures as they were with my old SanDisk 8 GB Ultra CF card.
Does anybody know what I can do to get running my meteohub? Or does anybody use actual available 8GB CF cards?
Thank you very much!

Re: 8GB SanDisk CF Card on an ebox 3310?
Hard to believe, but testing myself it turns out that it really is the CF card that makes grub stop.
A proven SLC card is this one, which I also found very nicely priced (for an industrial SLC card)...
