A several questions re: variables

I'm a little confused by the similarity of the descriptions for the "hour1" and "last60m" variable tags.

Do the "hour1" tags reset at the 00:00 minute:second of each hour local time(or UTC time) and start accumulations again then?

Do the "last60m" tags contain the data that was current exactly 60 minutes ago (like the "actual" current numbers, but offset by 60 minutes)?

Which should be used (hour1 or last60m) if the actual numeric change in the data (old v.s. "actual") value is to be used (like temperature change, baro change, etc.)?

There seems to be no "yesterday" tags to complement the "day1" tags, so is there an easy way to get yesterday's values (such as for rain total, temp hi/low+times, etc.)?

Q3: last60m; i´d say, but for baro change: the variable is not useful as it has a bug (you might calculate the 3h VP2 trend by yourself)

I've looked at both your and my seqday1_ values and have a few more questions.

Based on the _utcdate and _localdate values, it appears that the days' values are not computed just before local midnight, but sometime later. For your's, it seems to be 04:31:15Z or 06:31:15 local for each dataset. Given that the values are computed then, then what is the meaning of the _dew_c, _temp_c, and the other single entries for humidity, baro(etc). .. Are they sample values at the time of measurement or the mean/average/median of the last 24hr period?
For tempmax/tempmin, are those the highest/lowest values seen since the last daily computation?

It would be great if there were a last1d_ or yday_ set of variables which would capture everything that was in day1_ variables at 23:59:59 (local) so that yesterday's actual min/max times/values could be easily accessed :)

I guess your are correct with your conclusion. seqday is not calculated before midnight and might not be useful for you.
I´m using the seyhour_ variable for calculating the 3h Barotrend based on VP2 formula.
That works pretty well.

There´s another variable called last24h which would deliver also the min/max time for the extremes, but last24h not always means these values to be yesterdays extremes.
There´s another big handicap: seyday won´t give you the time at when min/max happened.
I agree, a new variable with yesterday_ similar to last24h_ would be very much appreciated, but only Boris can implement that.
I hope he does, because it might be useful for printing that info very easy with every website as well.

A different approach might be to read the needed data directly from the raw file.
all data of the current month is stored with raw files (plain text format) at the directory /data/weather/ --- e.g. this month /data/weather/201107/raw
I don´t know, but to parse and to analyse this data shouldn´t be a big deal with PHP.

Yes, in my understanding these are averages.

As you can see, the seqday1_ appear to be computed a bit after noon local, so don't contain the real min/max for the dates shown. Sigh.

The seqhour6_ do happen near to 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00, but I don't know if that's just the luck of the draw when I'd restarted the system near noon local.

The seqhour1_ series is every hour (as specified) but with the offset of 50 minutes.

My question is: Can the processes that create the data series be time aligned to local time so the daily one happens just prior to midnight, the 6hour one always starting at a bit after midnight, and the hour1 series at 59:59 (so it contains the full hour)?

I agree that a full yesterday_ set of tags would be very helpful and complete what many other weather software packages already provide.

I'm using the info gathered here to finish a MH-plugin for the AJAX/PHP multilingual template sets .. here's my development sample so far.

You may already have this clear now, but my understanding is:

hour1 => The current "clock" hour. e.g. at 1415 the hour1 variables give you the max/min/agerage/whatever since 1400.

last60m => The preceding 60 minutes, e.g. at 1415 the last60m variables gives you the max/min/agerage/whatever since 1315.

I've found a way to get-around the issue of not having full yesterday_ data by using a graph upload cron set for "59 23 * * *" to snapshot the day1_ tags and put them into yday_ tags .. seems to work ok and lets me have valid yesterday data for min/max and times :)
