Meteohub shows data when system was powered down

Post by lks6869 »

I am using a VantagePro2 with a WeatherHub2 (Sheevaplug+Meteoplug). I am doing testing on a system and I turned off the power for a few days. I turned the power back on and a few days later plotted data. I noticed that instead of a data gap, there is data on the graph during the period when the system was powered down. It looks like the last data point is repeated continuously until the system is turned back on. I also see this in the export data log files, there is data there that shouldn't be there.
Isn't this kind of a bad feature to have? Why doesn't it just show an empty data gap during the time when the system was powered down??

bad feature?
this is an excellence feature and was requested by many users as it is using the VP2 memory to recover data from a minor power outage.

The data that shows up when the Meteohub was powered down is invalid data. Its the same data repeated over and over, if I plot it its a flat line.

Also, on page 139 of the Meteohub v4.7 manual, it says this about the VantagePro2:
"Data logged in the Vantage is not used by Meteohub. Meteohub logs data for itself and computes min/max values from this."

It would be nice if Meteohub could access data stored inside the VP2 but it does not, and is instead logging invalid data.
Unless am I doing something wrong??

I attached a plot to show the problem. The plot shows 16 days of barometric pressure. The Meteohub was powered down for 4.5 days. See the flat part? That's when Meteohub was powered down yet when I do a data export the log file shows 984.1mbar during that time period. I would rather there be no data than have invalid data.

I see. Let´s say GNUPLOT can only draw continuous functions, at least with the mode meteohub is using.
If you´re not familiar with that mathematical term
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous_function
gnuplot will still connect the endpoints. If you want to plot a discontinuous function,. you'll need to de ne it in separate pieces and plot them
discontinous functions only in parametric mode

I understand what you're saying but that's not the case here. I made that plot with Excel and it is an X-Y Scatter chart, which can plot discontinuous data.
The invalid data is in the log file! Below is a snippet of the data:

11 8 2011 21 0 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 1 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 2 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 3 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 4 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 5 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 6 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 7 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 8 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 9 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 10 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 11 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 12 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 13 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 14 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999
11 8 2011 21 15 22.1 50 11.2 984.1 0 0 0 0 -999 -999 -999

You can see the date, time, temperature, dew point (?) and pressure. Its as if Meteohub filled in the empty time period with the last valid data point.
So my question is, is this the way Meteohub is supposed to operate?? Or am I doing something wrong?

hm, it seems there was still corrupt data stored with your VP2 internal memory.
Because no data from a weather station means no data logged by meteohub with its raw file.

you can reset and delete that internal memory with meteohub (menu >> weatherstation)

I can plot the data from the Meteohub web page (using points, not lines) and there is no data when the Meteohub was powered off. So that means there is no data in the raw data files. However when I *export* data to WSWIN or WD data, Meteohub is filling in the empty time with invalid data. I need to figure out how to fix this...
It's not doing it on just one unit, all of my units (4) do this.
