VantagePro2 - Forecast and Console Messages

Post by RickNY »

Is the Meteobridge capable of pulling the forecast and console message from a Vantage Pro2 connected via a WeatherLinkIP? If so, does it have a "sensor" value that can be used?

Hi Ricky. I have a VP2 connected to meteobridge through weatherlink IP. I don't think it tells you the console message and forecast. Not even sure if any weather software can do it?

Anyway, here is a screeny of the live data page if your interested. :)

Forcast messages are not reported so far. Most users don't trust these local forecast things a lot. There are better sources in the Internet for weather forecasts than the own local station in the garden, I guess ;-)

However, I might make vantage forecast texts avail as template variables in future releases (if there is a demand for it).

I'm using the Saratoga-Weather PHP scripts on my website, and it would be nice to display the Davis VP+ forecast below the NWS forecast, just as a reference. I use my website for myself primarily, and it displays US NWS forecasts currently... The console display message is available from WeatherLink 6.0.3 using WLIP, so I suspect that can also be pulled from the console as well.. I'd like to incorporate the console messages into my website, if at all possible (Especially today when the rainfall rate at my station was 0.52"/hour and the console was displaying "It's raining cats & dogs." :)

You can see the example of how the VP forecast message is incorporated into those scripts at his website: http://saratoga-weather.org/index.php

Thanks for adding this! I worked with Ken at Saratoga-Weather.org to get the forecast message added into the Meteobridge templates.. We discovered the UTF-8 encoding of some of the messages caused grief for PHP, so the templates were updated to only include the English versions -- but it works fine, and I've incorporated it into my page.

Thanks again!

Thanks for adding the forecast text/rule feature. The code to display it was already in the Leuven template as Meteohub supplies those texts. So now the Meteobridge version can display it also. http://www.wiri.be/weather2/index.php?p=10

The other part of the original question is the console message. There are php scripts who display a real-life console where those texts appear. But I do not know how they get those texts.

It would be very pleasant if Meteobridge could fetch that "raining cats and dogs" message also.

And if you consider to getting into those kind of messages: Can we get the battery status message also? I think Meteohub displays a low battery signal on its web-pages. Would be helpfull to display those station-messages on the status page on my website.

Thanks again for your continuing expanding the Meteohub/bridge/plug features.

Wim

Battery status is a great idea! Note that you can get the console voltage but only the Low Battery warning for the ISS
