WeatherBug Communication problems **solved**

Post by Bruce »

New MeteoBridge setup with the below details. Up until recently, it has been uploading data to all my weather networks. I noticed today there was apparently a new release (3345) recently and since that it seems it can't communicate with the WeatherBug network. The other two networks seem to be communicating well. Was there some change in the release 3345 that may cause communication issues with WeatherBug? :(

No changes there I can think of.

Time out problem indicates that there might be a server/connectivity problem at weatherbug?

Exactly the same issue here. I am not a big fan of WeatherBug anyway so I just re-configured my Meteobridge to stop trying to upload to them. It would be good to know what happened, however.

I remember seeing a message from WeatherBug just before this happened saying they were going to the cloud or something....

I enquired and received the following explanation from Nathan Parker at WeatherBug:

Subject: upload problems

------------
Hi there!

We are still recovering from our cloud hosting migration. We’ve still got a couple more kinks to iron out before everyone will pop up. We’re hoping to have the issue resolved within the next day or two. Thanks again for hanging in there and for your patience!

Thanks!

WeatherBug is working ok now. They must have fixed the "migration to the cloud" problem.

There still is a problem with Weatherbug, as they need over 5 seconds to handle the data hand-over request from Meteobridge. I changed the code to allow for up to 10 seconds, but to be honest a better solution would be Weatherbug fixes this performance issue on their side.

To get new version of Meteobridge a reboot needs to be done.

I spoke too soon! WeatherBug started working yesterday for a few hours, then my station disappeared again. A message from Nathan Parker at WeatherBug suggested the following:

"Try restarting your publishing application and see what that does. If you still have issues, holler back and let me know so I can investigate. We're seeing that restarting the publishing apps work for some people."

I tried that and it did not work. Oh, well...as I said before, I am not a big fan of WeatherBug anyway

I rebooted and downloaded the new Meteobridge code and my station now shows on WeatherBug.

Thanks!

To make things worse Weatherbug no longer supports the connection test feature that allows Meteobridge to check login credentials before sending payload data to Weatherbug. I asked them to reimplement this feature.

Until then, please ignore the red crosses on the Weather Station page, uploads go fine when credentials are right and you can check this on "Live Data" tab.

weatherbug told me they have the connection test function back working,
so the green marks should come back on weather station page.
Can someone from this forum using weatherbug please confirm?
