If you restart your Meteobridge and "immidiatly" go to the IP-address of the device, you will be forwareded to the Meteobridge Landing Page (FW 1.1).
Meteobridge is telling you there that it is either still loading the program or that there is a network problem.

At the bottom you can see the number of packets exchanged from Meteobridge server and the number of bytes downloaded. Also check the number of errors reported there.

Refresh that page to see the numbers go up. As I recall it was about 400mb downloaded.
This is the detailed information:
br-lan Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr A0:F3:C1:31:BC:40
inet addr:192.168.0.40 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:61 errors:0 dropped:12 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:18 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:14430 (14.0 KiB) TX bytes:4179 (4.0 KiB)

So if loading times are extremely long, carefully check the number of errors. Took me some time to find out why only one of the 2 Meteobridge devices was always loading very slowly!

The unit cannot hold the data on its own, as it just has 4 MB of persistent flash storage, which is fully occupied by the base system (openwrt, some additional kernel modules and some startup code). When equipped with a USB stick, the image is also stored there (once downloaded) but it is only used for boot, when Meteobridge server holding the image cannot be reached via Internet.

so can i add a usb stick and bypass the long boot time? sometimes it takes a day to recconect because of the very slow Edge internet connection. how do i download image to a usb stick?

It is not working that way. You can't force it by command not to load from the Internet. USB stick is only used in case Internet is not accessible. I will think how to add a "force boot from USB stick"-mode.
In the meantime, please add a FAT32 formatted USB-Stick and boot the Meteobridge with the stick plugged in. This will transfer the image to the stick. Then we have to find a way to force the Meteobridge to boot from it.

I checked the code and implemented a drop-down menu that allows to select "USB first" as boot option. Doing some tests with my WR703N it seems to work. Anybody interested in testing that? Please send MAC to "info(at)meteobridge.com" to get access to the new beta code to help me testing this feature before making it available to the broader public.
