Meteobridge affects freq. of Weather Link updates **solved**
I have just started using a Meteobridge (with a TL-MR3020 from TP-Link) to upload data from my Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus console to Weather Underground. My Vantage Pro2 console is connected to my local network (LAN) through a WeatherLinkIP device. By default, WeatherLinkIP uploads data to weatherlink.com every minute.
As soon as I connected the Meteobridge to the same local network (LAN) and set it up so that it uploads data to Weather Underground every 5 minutes, the following issue arose: the updates to Weather Underground take place precisely every 5 minutes (as desired), but the uploads to weatherlink.com (from the WeatherLinkIP device) now happen sporadically, every 5 to 6 minutes (with no consistent pattern).
In other words, it appears that the Meteobridge's interaction with the WeatherLinkIP device (through the network) seems to affect the WeatherLinkIP's frequency of updates to weatherlink.com.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I would appreciate the help.

The same issue is there with Meteohub.
I have a Meteohub and a Meteobridge on different locations reading a different WLIP.
Both WLIP devices when "attached" to Meteo** only upload to the WeatherLink.com site once every 5 minutes.
When the logging is stopped in Meteohub the upload rate from the WLIP goes to once every minute.

I used both, but never, NEVER starts weatherlink (software) with meteobridge connected to LAN, immediately you have issues, remenber that the weatherlinkIP upload the data.

Sorry, I was not clear.josecmorales wrote:I used both, but never, NEVER starts weatherlink (software) with meteobridge connected to LAN, immediately you have issues, remenber that the weatherlinkIP upload the data.
WeatherlinkIP (WLIP) is the devicece as connected via IP-lan to Meteo** and the WLIP uploads to
Weatherlink.Com. That is the special WeatherLink website.
I am not using the Weatherlink program, only Meteo** for the WLIP.
The WLIP contains a serial logger and a serial to IP converter in one device. But therefore this device can only talk to ONE other device at the same time. So when talking via port 22222 to another program (Meteo**) it can not upload to Weatherlink.com
The issue is that it seems that Meteo** does not "free" the WLIP once every minute so that the WLIP can do its upload to WeatherLInk.com.
For instance WeatherDisplay has that setting "Release connection once every minute to allow Weatherlink.com updates".
So does Cumulus where it is "Discon period" and you can set the number of seconds.
There is no setting in Meteo** as I am aware of. And the disconnect-interval seems to be 5 minutes, according to the data on the Weatherlink.com pages.
Example, the WLIP connected via the LAN to Meteobridge updates this page : http://www.weatherlink.com/user/herent/ ... &headers=1 but it is only refreshed every 5-6 minutes.
The one connected to a Meteohub: http://www.weatherlink.com/user/wvdkuil ... &headers=1, exactly the same.

If there is a demand I can change to giving the WLIP a pause every minute. So far this request has not been raised and it will come with a downside of loosing more data for the Meteobridge which impacts other services like WU rapid fire.

Re: Meteobridge affects the freq. of updates to weatherlink.
Hi Boris,
Would be nice if there is a user configurable option that allows Meteohub/Bridge to release the connection to WLIP every so many seconds. So, "0" would mean no release (which is compatible with what is been done right now), and then a user configurable number of seconds (I guess that there will need to be a minimum like 60 seconds), or just a drop downbox with some values (never/60 seconds/300 seconds/600 seconds). Could be just on the weatherstation page in MH where one configures the connections.
Thanks,
Ysbrand

When you reboot the Meteobridge, latest update will give you an option to define Weather Link update frequency: every minute, every 5 minutes, every 10 minutes, never

Hi
Can you implement this for meteohub as well?
Thanks

yes, will do when smooth operation has been confirmed for Meteobridge.
You are really not giving me any pause

Thanks Boris, much appreciated
No rush, makes sense to implement things one platform at a time.
