Battery Backup

I have a TP-Link running Meteobridge (from Ambient Weather, if I remember right).

I've recently gone through a power outage and lost data. I can see from other posts that other people have had the same issue recently.

The TP-Link draws power off of USB. Has anyone tried/would it be possible to put one of the USB power packs in line to keep the Meteobridge running when the power goes down? This would mean finding a power pack that charges off of USB, and is capable of being charged and discharged at the same time.

Using a TL-MR3040 will give you some headroom, as it has a battery included.
Your license can be moved to that unit. Buy one, flash it, try out and drop me
a mail when you want your license transferred. The MR3040 is about as cheap
as the MR3020, but one LED is missing, so it boots partly in "dark mode".

But on thing, i have my MR3020 on LAN conection, i have an ISS Davis Pro2 with envoy and weatherlinkIP, is would works with this MR3040? or the data will be miss too?

ye, MR3040 can do all things a MR3020 can do. In case of power outage,
WLIP will of course not benefit from MR3040 internal battery, so
readings will be lost when WLIP does no longer deliver data because it
is unpowered. In case of USB Davis logger it will continue to work.

Interesting device, is it possible to migrate the existing data and configuration in one time to a new device (year, monthly results....)?

Is for this device an extra hub needed to connect an Davis Envoy?

1) Existing historical data will be lost when moving to a new device. License can be switched over.
2) You still need the hub when using the Davis USB data logger.

Unless you already have a USB power pack to use, you can pick up a small UPS for around $50 and use it to power your TP-Link and Davis Console. They draw so little power that even the tiniest UPS will outlast most power outages. With batteries in the Davis console you're unlikely to loose data even if and when a power outage exceed the capacity of your UPS.
