Raspberry pi B+ 2
Hello,
I have buy the new Raspberry B+ 2 and have download the CDcard image, bud hij is not instal Meteohub.
I think that Meteohub 5.0 not correct is for the new version Raspberry B+ 2
Meteohub is it still appropriate to the version B + 2 or should I take a step back and to the version B + go back?
Or is the problem that i not have a USB connection?
I used Waetherlink IP.
With best regards,
Marcel.

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
I ordered an RPI2 today. So you will have to wait until I find time to have a look at it.
As the RPI Meteohub system is based on Raspbian, this might not work on the new CPU.
But as said, I will need to go deeper into that.
For the moment just the B and B+ are supported, not version 2.

Hello,
Thanks for the quick answer.
It is not intended that you test additional to hear me, think I'm just a B + go get it, first time in contact with a raspberry and quite fun to play with, use itself now a AWEKAS box with Meteohub but would like to have a system there for backup.

Hi,
I as well got my Raspberry B+ 2 yesterday which is my first Pi.
I am looking forward to give meteohub a try.
Currently it's doing kinda nothing
Thanks,
Oliver

I'm too looking at buying a pi2 just for meteohub.
Will be watching this topic with keen interest.

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2 / Pi2 is already running
Yesterday got my new Pi2, did today the first trial run.
Took the SD-card out of the Pi+ and started the Pi2 with it - without any changes or other preparations.
Boot was without problems.
MH main page shows 38 BogoMIPS, 949 MB RAM with Linux Kernel 3.18.7, Meteohub Version 5.0d Build 64, eingeschränkte Demoversion.
Sysload is about 0.43, 0.29, 0.29, after recalculation (starts from 11:00 in the following diagram) Inside the SSH-Terminal TOP 1 shows that all 4 cores are busy.
Only CPU Temp does not show in the moment - but please remember: this is only a first test run without any adaptions.
But it looks very promising...

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
GOOD NEWS, thank you!
All 4 core's busy, that suprises me, but in a good way. I had though that meteohub would have had to had changes to make use of all 4 cores, but I have limited knowledge on programming myself.
I ordered my pi 2 yesterday for it to replace my sheevaplug. I know the sheeva has 1.2ghz cpu, but its a 3/4 year old cpu, surely the Pi2 would be much better, especially as it had 1gb ram, sheeva has 512mb.

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
After starting a recalculation of 2 months data the list of processes (TOP, command "1") shows this:
(Btw: Internet browser in Raspbian, Epiphany, is giving now a very good feeling with its speed... It feels like having a very very new Pi
)

Peter
PS:
one important hint:
the original MH image downloaded from Boris' pages DOES NOT start directly on Pi2. It starts only on Pi2 if the image is started at least on PiB+, then updated to the newest Linux, and only then it starts on Pi2.
But be aware:
this is only a preliminary test, not all things are running (no CPU Temp, no backup, some minor other problems).
It only shows the possibilities, it is NOT useable on a "production" system !!
We have to wait patiently until Boris decides to do an official "upgrade" !!
at least there is some life in all 4 cores - and the Pi2 is feeling much quicker in its reaction in a linux terminal and in MH.(Btw: Internet browser in Raspbian, Epiphany, is giving now a very good feeling with its speed... It feels like having a very very new Pi

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
Any news for new starters?
If I try this on my Pi I just see a picture with 4 colors and that's it.

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
I followed these instructions to update the SD card running on a B+
http://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi- ... berry-pi-2
Upgrade worked flawless, but when done the updated SD card still doesn't boot on the model 2.
Peter, what did you do different to have it running?

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
I made the following steps:
1) Write image from Website on SDCARD
2) Boot SDCARD in Pi B+ and wait
3) Open console (root)
4) Update the Pi B+:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
rpi-update
5) Reboot Pi B+ to check
6) Moved SDCARD into Pi2
7) Boot Pi2
8) Activate Meteohub
Up to here - no problems. Then i tried to update Meteohub in the maintenance section of the web-interface. I clicked on "Install" and after that step my Pi2 was dead.
The screen showed a problem, that there was nothing to mount and the kernel stopped.
Regards
Matthias

Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
Here in short my steps (did it testwise half an hour ago again):admin wrote:I followed these instructions to update the SD card running on a B+

Peter, what did you do different to have it running?
- transfer mhrpi5.0.img to 8Gb micro sd card
- test: does not boot on pi2 (because of old linux kernel 3.12.26)
- start on b+ is OK
- on MH main page: Demo timed out - -> update to 5.0d -> install 5.0d -> automatic reboot -> reload conf -> runs OK - test: does not boot on pi2
- now on B+: in SSH-terminal rpi-update -> linux shows now 3.18.8 -> does not start anymore on B+ !!
- now start on pi2 -> OK
- after some re-configuration (showing some errors) this is the result: - data comes from my "production" system via TCP/IP: Some problems I noticed until now:
on SSH:
- wear storage shows problems
- smb.conf.bak has "disable poolss" instead "spoolss" - spelling error, gives sometimes the result of exim4 logs filling the disk
- Netzwerk: Huawei GSM USB shows up
- CPU-temp does not show
- some error messages on SSH and in changing some points in MH main page
- processor type is shown as x86 instead of Pi2
ATTENTION:
SMB has changed in newest linux upGRADES !
destroys smb access from windows and email messages from meteohub, because smb.conf has many changes....
Therefore DO NOT upGRADE for the moment, only upDATE (because of the repos) - I needed this for e.g. installing MC...
Hopefully this helps...
BR Peter
Re: Raspberry pi B+ 2
Thanks for the "rpi-update" hint, that does the trick
This is a link to the image that installs fine on models B, B+ and 2:
http://www.meteohub.de/files/mhrpi-v5.0f.rar
Doing an upadte of an existing B+ installation does not work, because by
this Meteohub does not recognize that it is a RPI and assumes on next boot
being on a x86 platform, which has lots of related failures...
Therefore, please start with the fresh 5.0f image on your RPI 2.

Thanks and regards
