Wind direction data incorrect sent to WU *SOLVED*

Post by KrazyKanuk »

Hi
I have been using the MB with an Acurite 5in1.
Everything has been working well with sending data to WU and CWOP for around 4 months.
Recently i acquired another few sensors. I got another 5in1 and it was seen by the Acurite bridge and the MB. it llabelled it

Wind #1 as the new 5in1 and the old 5in1 was kept as "Wind". see above.
I have been able to reconfigure the data sent to WU from the new sensor sending only the rainfall data and wind speed data.
However I recently noticed that the wind direction data was coming from the "old" 5in1 sensor. Somehow there is no option to choose the new 5in1 sensor as the one to send this data from. Is there someway to change this?

As it is green, it is selected as primary. Your observation is that wind direction is coming from the old sensor,
but speed is coming from the new ones?

Yes that is correct.. Your software appears to keep the sensors that have been registered by the bridge.
Even if they are disconnected and have the batteries taken out of them, MB remembers them and starts keeping data on them once they show up again.
I noticed that WU had a constant reading for the wind direction. I had the original 5in1 inside but still had the batteries in, so I changed the vane position and WU responded with a change in the position... These are readings from the "original" sensor. I then removed the batteries... WU now says that I am not sending wind information to them... they still acknowledge that wind speed is sent (from the new 5in1 sensor - shown in green) However no changes to the direction! Even though the "new" sensor in green is the "primary" sensor, MB still is sending null info from the "old" 5in1!

Checked code and you are right. Sensor for wind direction is not changed. Next update will change wind direction sensor when primary windXwind sensor is changed.

I have a fix as beta and would like to have you to give it a test drive. Can you please send me the MAC of your Meteobridge? "info(at)meteobridge.com"

Thanks. my MAC address is

I am running 2.4 because when I flashed 2.5 it froze so i reverted to 2.4 and it worked... besides I did not need the added features in 2.5... however it may have had some bug fixes.

sorry.. I sent you my MAC address to info@meteobridge.com.

Would love to try the beta... I may have an issue with 2.5. Or may not since you have had updates since and I have not checked them.

Well for some reason when I unplug it and plug it back in, it reboots but it can't log onto my Wifi network! The green light keeps flashing quickly and I don't see it on my list of wirless devices on the router client list?
Any thoughts... I think that this was the same problem when I went to 2.5 so I reverted to 2.4.

Thanks I have had one go at changing the settings.
Since there is no actual green setting for wind direction I changed from the "wind" the the "wind #1" as my primary wind sensor.
I did not block the "wind" one, I just changed to the new "wind wind #1". It did not go green. I then changed the "wind avgwind #1" to the primary sensor. It changed to green. I then changed the "wind windchill #1" to the primary and it too changed to green. However no data was sent out and WU shows no data being sent.
I then tried to change back to the "wind wind0" as the primary but it was not accepted. The other "wind avgwind0" was accepted a green and the "wind chill" also reverted to green but WU still is getting erroneous readings.. like speed of 198km/hr. and multiple directions. I will likely soon be dropped by WU for inaccurate data.

Could you please give me access as explained here:
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=9885

Please send link and password to "info(at)meteobridge.com".
As I don't have multiple wind stations, I cannot test on my rig.

Have been running 2.5 build 6300 for 4 days now and can report that the wind direction error has now been FIXED!
THANK YOU!

I'm not sure if this only applies to ACURITE equipment or all other equip. The problem arose when 2 wind vanes were monitored by MB. Changing back and forth between them resulted in errors with the wind direction coming from the first sensor despite all other wind data coming from the selected sensors. I have run through multiple changes and things now work as they should. :D

Thank you again for the EXCELLENT support.
